PFT pointed out that the NFC East pays more to its quarterbacks than any other division in the NFL.  That's Romo, Bradford, Cousins and Eli.

Win percentage for teams in that division though? Eeeehhh...

Romo deserves to be highly-paid. They suck because Jerry Jones is a moron and doesn't know how to build a team around his top QB, and actually I anticipate them going 10-6 or better this year if Romo and Dez stay healthy on offense. Not a serious contender but a decent playoff team, kind of like the Vikings this past season (though their strength would clearly be O and not D whereas the Vikings are carried by their D and Peterson). Cousins and Bradford are terrible. Eli is like Flacco. Not worth the money but won them Super Bowls and better to keep a decent QB than be stuck with sh*tty ones like the Browns/Jets/Bills/etc.

I put Tony Romo in the same category I put Matt Stafford.

They can both play well enough to make you think they're really good, but when it gets down to clutch time they just don't get it done.

The fact that a guy who practically fits the mold of the mediocre boring quarterback down to the damn tee continues to fleece teams financially as a starter while maintaining a career completion percentage of barely 60%, and a touchdown to interception ratio of 78-52 five seasons into his career not only speaks to the quality of starting quarterbacks in the league these days. But it makes you wonder why in comparison, a quarterback like Bradford has been coddled dating back to the draft, while a guy like Cam Newton has been vilified from the word go, and even after an MVP season still gets significant disrespect for the pettiest of reasons.

Also, I still can't believe @Jackofalltrades thought this bum was going to be a better QB than Cam.

This is a common notion that I completely disagree with.

Romo does not belong in any category with Bradford, Eli or Cousins.       I know the popular belief is that he sucks because he had a few bad plays in the playoffs.     Media crucifies Romo for every mistake,  and a lot of football fans blindly follow the media.                        Romo is actually a damn good qb though.    Guy averages around 273 yards ,  2 TD and less than 1 int a game........With 127 games played.    Career qb rating of 97.          He is an example of a great qb on a team that's not so great.

What's with the overrated QBs being over paid?

Because if the Eagles didn't pay Bradford this money, another team would have paid Bradford this money. I am pretty sure that the Browns and 49ers would have had serious interest in bringing Sam Bradford to town if he had hit free agency. Heck, the Jets might have had serious interest in bringing Sam Bradford in if the rumor about them not wanting to pay the going rate to Ryan Fitzpatrick is true. The guy had a decent season last year in Philly. He set the record for pass completion. Also, he finished two hundred yards shy of their single season passing yards record and he only played fourteen games, missing two with injury. From what bits I saw of Bradford, I think it's worth paying him this money in the hope that he finally becomes the quarterback people expected him to be when he was drafted back in 2010.

The other thing to bare in mind is that this year's quarterback draft class is on a par with 2013's quarterback draft class (ie EJ Manuel and Geno Smith). I don't see a QB that makes me think "wow I'd build my team around this guy". There's talent, but it's not great or anything to write home about. For me, the 2013 draft is the only year that this year's quarterback prospects would have had a chance to be the first quarterback off the board. In the other five drafts they would have been behind the majority of the first round picks: Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota (2015); Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater (2014); Andrew Luck, RGIII, Ryan Tannehill, Brandon Weeden (2012); Cam Newton, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder (2011); and Sam Bradford and The Golden Calf of Bristol (2010). And that's without considering that Derek Carr, Russell Wilson, Nick Foles, Kirk Cousins, Andy Dalton and Colin Kaepernick were drafted outside of the first round in the 2014, 2012, and 2011 drafts. Now that's just my opinion, maybe you will disagree and feel that this year's class can stand up against them, but I don't see a quarterback that I would take ahead of Sam Bradford based on how he performed last season. That's not to say they shouldn't draft a mid round quarterback to develop behind Sam Bradford, but I think they have made the right move by paying Bradford and going forwards with him rather than look at one of this year's rookies in a weak draft class.
