Mike & Mike on Jake......

They are wearing Jake out this morning. All they keep talking about is how long do we leave him in if he continues to lose games for us. They have talked about it at least a dozen times on and off all morning.

I didn't pay much attention to it until they had Jaworski on, and he said it's time to give the other QB's a chance. His reasoning was that you can't continue to leave a QB in that singlehandedly continues to lose games for you.

Just thought I would share, because it's amazing we are getting all this attention now(bad as it may be), but the organization can't see it.

what makes me scared is that they might throw feeley in before moore.

This.

It drives me crazy, let Moore ride the roster as a backup QB for a couple seasons, then as soon as "his purpose" is apparent, sign a QB with no experience in our system/playbook and move Moore down the depth chart. RAWR! :mad2:

what makes me scared is that they might throw feeley in before moore.

my confidence in their ability to make good moves is waning.

I would be more upset over this move than any personell position this team has ever made. I don't know if Moore is any good or better than Feeley, but it is time to find out. We know Feeley sucks. He is a career backup that Miami gave the opportunity to start. That went badly. He has more career ints than tds.

This is Moore's 3rd year in the league. I understand that they don't believe he is ready to be the starter, that is one reason Jake is still the starter. But if they don't have the confidence of him being the #2 over Feeley, who was been here for 4 days, then he shouldn't be on this team, and he will never be the starter. If Jake can't reel it in, and they don't believe Matt can take over for him, he shouldn't have made this roster.

Yeah I ripped on Whitlock b/c from his article his fat ass had never even watched one of our games. Jaws has watched our games, broken down film on our team (especially Jake), and had been a supporter of Jake... So, coming from him, is a HUGE difference than coming from from some fat f*ck that was just waiting for a story to talk about as if he had known about it all along...

I consider Jaws perspective on Jake a lot like my own. I had never been a "Jake lover," but I recognized him for what he was. He was a Top 10 QB for several years in this league. Made a Pro Bowl, went to 2 NFCG and a Superbowl... That's not a fluke. Now, it can be argued that those results were more b/c of the team than his own leadership and abilities, but I think he had a lot to do with it. I gave him credit where credit was due.

But now, I think we're ready for a changing of guard... He's gotta be on a VERY short leash this week. B/c he has single-handedly lost the last two games. Which is what made him so great for us before IMO, was his ability to win games and play when it counted. Many people on this board don't give him credit for the unbelievable amount of 4th quarter comebacks he led. And contrary to the b.s. on this board, you don't comeback late in 4th quarters running the ball.

It just seems he's lost what he had before, and I don't think he can get it back. If he can, that'll make for a great story, if not, it's time to move on. That's why I respect Jaw's opinion, b/c he sees that, and knows what he's talking about. A lot of these other part-time talking heads don't.

    • I mean it's not even like this was his worst game of the season... I'm not done with him by any means but this feels more the norm for him than the exception:/
    • I'd give it a C mainly because of Brooks.  If we just didn't have a 2nd I'd argue B to B+ tbh. Brooks was a bad gamble, tho one that could still pay off long term. Yes XL only has 400 yards but... Look who is throwing him the ball. And I think he isn't a "true #1" but he's been able to consistently get open. Hands definitely need to be cleaned up.  But he should end the year with 500-600 yards. Like you said - Sanders looks great.  Get him a better QB / more time with a QB and I think he's gonna impress. We added a couple rotational players on D that have both made plays and show promise for the future from later rounds. So I'd say, Brooks really hurts this drafts grade. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses over the next 3 years. I've overall really liked Morgan's FA acquisitions, so...
    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
