as I read through this thread the thought of a trade to the jags would be the most wonderful thing imaginable. trade our 30th and josh and next years first for the 5th pick. Select Jalen Rasmey and boom, we just upgraded our #1 CB and created 10 million in cap space for star and kk.... one can dream right?

I am neutral on trading 30 and JNo to Jax for #5.  All I was saying is that it's considered "fair" trade value.  We lose the proven player but gain cap space.  As others have said, it's a weak class and depends on how GMan would feel.  (At the end of the day I don't think us or Jax want it)

But NO WAY do we trade next year's first!!!

just think about how that sounds. log off for a night and seriously just think about your life.

Dude, it's the internet, I only know three-four people on here in person, I couldn't care less what others think of me, especially your moronic ass.

holy God two firsts and the best CB in the game for the 5th overall pick in a weak draft class?!?!!  I would literally flip the fug out.  That would be the worst move in franchise history.  And we've had some doozies.

I feel pretty certain the whole "trading away future firsts" practice left the building when Marty Hurney did.

Gettleman mentioned in his first post-draft press conference that another team had called to make a deal of their second round pick for our next year's first. He laughed and said "You must be braindead to think I'd take a deal like that."

I remember thinking at the time that he probably didn't know his predecessor had taken exactly that kind of deal more than once.

Also couldn't help but wonder if someone in that other team's war room had said "Hey, call the Panthers and offer them this deal. They're suckers."

I've been on hiatus since the SB, because the dumbassery that followed was too much to deal with. But I'm slowly easing my way back into the swing of things.

Which leads me to my first question; what the fug is the deal with these remedial thread titles running rampant?

Another Jermey Igo Alt account to keep the view count up?

idk, giving up what became Champ Bailey for Sean Gilbert would still probably be worse

If josh Norman is asking for 15 million a year based off 20 regular season games, I laugh in his face and tag him until he's 30.

i would bet the panthers are willing to go to 12 million. If he's willing to risk injury over 1.9 million (the franchise tag of 13.9) and security of a long term contract, then more power to him. Good luck getting that at age 30.

I hope they can agree to something but am not going anywhere near 15 million a year.

I could argue with a lot of points in this thread, but Thomas Davis says it best.

http://espn.go.com/blog/carolina-panthers/post/_/id/19903/panthers-lb-thomas-davis-josh-norman-has-earned-everything-hes-about-to-get

It's not about Josh's attitude. It's not that he isn't a leader. It's not about his age. It's about them finding common ground on the numbers.

Based upon TD's words, Norman is more important than many of you think.

More like 14.3 a season and it's been more like 27-28 games counting playoffs. Market value and him being top rated cb both seasons say he's worth it.

15 million a year would be more than Revis got. Revis is the best cover corner since Deion Sanders. He's a first ballot Hall of Famer and covers both sides of the field. I like Norman a lot but he is not worth more than Revis.

Last two seasons, Norman's rated higher then Revis. Norman can cover both sides and does so, he just doesn't go into the slot. That's a big difference then covering from RCB and LCB.

Also it isn't me saying Norman is worth that, it's the market for corners that says he's worth around 14 a season.

Personally, I'd offer him a 4 year deal worth 55 million. 28.1 million guaranteed with about 12 in signing bonuses, another 16.1 in fully guaranteed salary in seasons 1 and 2.

Seasons break down 7+3, 9.1+3, 11.83+3, 15.38+3. Average salary is right under 14 million. Follows NFL's contract rules that I know of.

That way if his play falls off after year 2 you can cut bait and save money in year 3 with a 6 million cap hit if cut compared to a total cap hit of nearly 15 million.
