Josh Norman Contract talks have stalled, bruh is getting the franchise tag.

Just gives us more time to work out a long term deal, just like every team that HS a marquee free agent.

If Norman and Gettleman can't settle on a number, I think Benwikere has the stuff to play as a #1 corner in this system. In 2014, Norman and Bene were one of the highest ranked CB duos by PFF when they played together. If he comes back from his broken leg at full strength, CB will be much less of a problem area for our defense.

I don't care what you guys think about my post. He got in a fight with Cam, he nonstop talks smack on the field and all he cares about is getting his. It's Smitty all over again.

Yeah that's why he boohooed when we lost.

You are dumb and should feel bad.

as I read through this thread the thought of a trade to the jags would be the most wonderful thing imaginable. trade our 30th and josh and next years first for the 5th pick. Select Jalen Rasmey and boom, we just upgraded our #1 CB and created 10 million in cap space for star and kk.... one can dream right?

This thread has tons of stupidity. Of course talks have stalled Norman's agent is asking for somewhere between 14 and 15 million a year over 5 years with roughly 40% guaranteed. Which would make him the highest paid corner in total value, highest yearly average and second highest guarantee. 5 years 72 million, 28-29 guaranteed.

Panther's more then likely are offering somewhere in the range of 10-12 a season over 4 years right now. That's a huge gap between agent and team. I imagine the biggest sticking point between them is going to be the guaranteed money.

1st off, half the time, Norman didn't even cover the opposition's #1. He played his side of the field and if that guy was their #1, then that's who he guarded.

Secondly, anyone who knows anything about this team realizes how much help he got from TD, Luke and Star/Short...so it's not like he's out on an island like we see from Revis and Patterson.

Hes not top-5 and I know this because of the statements I made in the previous paragraph.

Give me whatever you're smoking bruh I need like 10 bowls of that ish.

You're either blind or ignorant. I guess Richard Sherman is overrated because he covers one side of the field, and Aquib Talib and Patrick Peterson, who Corey fuging Brown was beating like a steel drum, are top 5 DBs. Are you that dense?

He *was* on teams #1s almost 90% of the time. And he locked them down routinely. There's good DBs who cover well, and there's lock down DBs. Look at the stats of the #1 WRs in every game we played. That's not a coincidence.

You argument that Norman got help from the rest of our stars is short-sighted and double edged. As many rushed throws Star created, how man coverage sacks has Star gotten from lockdown coverages. How many INTs has Kurt "off the couch (lol he was a hero for the Cheifs near the end of 2014)" Coleman gotten because people didn't try the opisite side of the field? Everyone makes EVERYONE better on this team, but the stars, yes including Norman, make this defense elite.

Just straight up admit you don't like Norman. This whole thread you've thrown nothing but blind shade at the dude. Saying he'd hold out, even though he's said he wouldn't take getting tagged personal. Saying he's me first even though he's one of the most laid back and fun loving people on the team. He's confident. He's cocky. And he backs it up.

That's basically my exact offseason plan as well except add sign a coverage FS, move Kurt to SS and improve coverage at both positions. Kurt was very opportunistic and got a lot of picks which was awesome but his actual coverage was pretty lacking at times.

I have said the same thing about Coleman.  Not a true FS.  I want to see Marlowe play more---he will be a key player next year.

holy God two firsts and the best CB in the game for the 5th overall pick in a weak draft class?!?!!  I would literally flip the fug out.  That would be the worst move in franchise history.  And we've had some doozies.

To give Norman top dollar now makes no sense.  Let's say he wanted a 4-year, $52m deal.  That comes to about $13m per--I imagine he would want it front loaded and most of it guaranteed. Yes, it would be under the $14m we will spend by tagging him, but we would also have to pay him when he is 33 years old.  Norman is older because we drafted him at 24, but he is looking for the payday.  Would we be paying him for the future or the present?  The future is not as bright as the present is for Norman, if you ask me.  I see him slowing down at 30 or so, like most DBs.

Norman is good, but he is not a team leader.  Spending more for a CB than a DE in our system is dumb.

We should franchise him for one year and see if his price comes down.  If not, let him go.  In the meantime, we need to draft a CB and develop him.

Does anyone else get the idea that Norman will not be as good somewhere else?

Too bad, Panthers and Norman could have been something special for years to come.

DG is going to put more of a priority on finding the talent for a decent pass rush than breaking the bank on a DB.

Gettleman doesn't believe in over paying in the secondary.  I'm a hundred precent in agreement with him.

I also understand Norman wants to get paid. He's going to have to make a decision.

Yea 3 players, one being an all pro for an unproven rookie is worse than the Everette Brown debacle and makes the Armanti trade look decent. I guess dumb thread names deservingly gets dumb responses.

There's always that one guy that carries a thread past its lifeline solely by speaking total nonsense.
