So let me get this straight. Josh Norman should be let go because they have not agreed on a contract? They have been negotiating for about a week now. Norman is one of the best corners in the league. Of course it will take some time to get together on a deal. But to say he is a cancer and a prima donna and the team should just let him go is absolute horse poo.

first it is that Philly Brown sucks and should be cut, now it is Norma who should be let go. Should we just not sign Star because he didn't get enough sacks this past year. He must suck too.

You would think that after an overall successful year, minus the one big win, that this type of crap would be less this year. But I guess not. You people amaze me.

Agreed. A lot of this post has a sour grapes feeling to it. Josh needs to get paid, period. That being said, Gettleman is not going to risk the long term cap space by overpaying him. At 29, Norman isn't going to get a 5-6 year deal unless there's a safety net of voidable years/lower guaranteed amount, etc. They will work something out that benefits both parties.

These titles really need to stop. I guess it's fun, cool and edgy to try and get under the skin of people with it, but can we have a mod clean this crap up and edit the titles to put a stop to it. Complaining about them just encourages him. Only way to stop it is direction from the top.

Right! He left out the 'and poo' part.

Tag him. If we can get a deal great but 11 million is the max we need to go. It's a business. I would love to have him a Panther for life but we need to do what's in our best interest. I'd go CB in the fitsr four rounds and wish Josh the best in the future. My pics would be Jackson from Houston and Redmond from Mississippi State.

No way does he deserve more than Luke.

Different positions, different payscales.

Luke may be the best player on our defense, but his position is relatively undervalued by the league compared to top pass rushers or top CBs.  So, it's not about who is the better player, but about the market value for top players at that position.

Norman played his ass off last year and wants top dollar. Rightfully so.

What if you busted your ass proving your worth to your company? You would expect to be compensated more. If your company won't, you'll find one that will. It's the same thing with football, people just get emotionally attached.

On the flip side, Gettleman sees how good Norman has been, but doesn't want to handicap the team and take away money that could be given to other players who are deserving as well. Which is a more valuable position, DT or CB? That's what he's balancing. If he pays Norman top dollar, he can't pay KK top dollar as well. Norman's age is also a contributing factor.

People need to take emotion out of the business side of football.

Norman was one of the best (IMO the best) CB in the league last year and did it for $1,591,750. Chump change for the position. If Gettleman was willing to pay up to $10 million last year, he should be $8.5 million on the good side. I can honestly see Norman getting $14 million + per year...for 3-4 years.

Are you delusional? You're assuming we're set after signing Norman. You sir, are a dingbat. Josh is 28 years old. And ironically, you're referring to me as Hurney? Oh, that's rich. Even if we get him at three years, he'll probably be aiming for 15 million (lowest) a year. Let me reiterate: No. Way. In. Hell.

DBs don't fare well after hitting the big 3-0. In addition, it's a position where one can go from being the best in a season to being dreadful the next.

Voidable years sounds awesome but so does banging supermodels. The fact is Norman is looking for his payday. He's only gonna get one from us at 13 million and then he's gone. Josh isn't the QB of the defense, and G-Man isn't going to break apart the band for one guy's greed.

I'd trade him now for a premier DE or a first round pick.

Glad to see you have resorted to name calling. I was wondering how long it would take. Josh is what Gettleman referred to as a young 28. He did not get a lot of games his first few years. He has only been starting for a bout a year and a half.

And adding voidable years is a good thing for the player. They get the same bonus money, it does not mean they have to wait for their cash.

I never said we are set. But there are other ways to free up money. I referred to you as Hurney, because you apparently have no idea how the salary cap actually works.  At this point, I think you are just arguing for the sake of arguing. I already said we can agree to disagree, and then you start calling me names. I am done talking to you. It is like arguing with a sign post that has a word misspelled.

Kawann Short's contract is going to blow Luke's out of the water when we extend him. It's going to be much closer to Cam money than Luke money. It will be at least $16M/year. Are you going to have an issue with that? It's the reality of positional value in the current market.

Who wants to put money on us drafting either KK or Star's replacement in this draft?

You build through the draft and it just so happens that this year is deep with DL and DB talent.

We have our biggest investments (with CJ being the one exception,) of core guys up the middle on both sides of the ball. It's plug and play everywhere else.

I don't expect that to change any time soon.

Do you think that KK is not going to be part of the core?
