Least interested i have been in the Oscars since 03 or so. Normally i have seen half the films for best pic and just 1 this year.

Great joke about Giamatti and then i was done. Lame otherwise.

Yeah, I don't really care either. But I took the night off and have nothing better to do than laundry.

Leo winning is ironic to me since most people say that he should have won one in the past but didn't deserve it this year. I think the exact opposite. I've never thought he was snubbed and have even thought he was overrated at times. Dicaprio does some of the worst accents you'll hear and that really takes him down a peg to me. The one other time I really think he should have won was The Departed and by most accounts he didn't win the Oscar that year because he refused to be top billed for Departed.

He definitely deserved it this year though. Not a single performance was more impressive than him.

He was snubbed for Best Supporting Actor for Gilbert Grape in 93', no way Tommy Lee Jones for Fugitive should have beat him out.

But mostly, I agree,  In 2005 it was between him (for The Aviator) and Jamie Foxx for Ray.  It would be hard to say he should have beat Ray.  I think it was a toss up there but slight edge to Ray.   Actually, Don Cheadle for Hotel Rwanda could have won that year as well, fantastic movie people need to watch.

In 2007 he was up for Blood Diamond.   That movie is great, but it wasn't epic or amazing like a lot of his other movies have been.  Forest Whitaker won for "Last King of Scotland" and he was great in that, also that year Will Smith was fantastic in The Pursuit of Happiness.   So that year, I think Forest or Smith were more deserving.   This was the year for The Departed and he wasn't up for any awards for that, not even Supporting (Walhberg was though lol).

Then in 2014 was Wolf of Wall Street, and while I loved that movie and he nailed it, McConaughey absolutely crushed it in Dallas Buyers Club, so it's hard to call that snub.

One could wonder why he wasn't nominated though for some movies.  Titanic, Gangs of New York, Catch Me If You Can, The Departed, Revolutionary Road, etc.  I think that is where the jokes and whatnot come from, that so many great movies, he didn't nail an Oscar yet.  He also should have been nominated for Django Unchained for Supporting Actor.

So many memes died last night.

I forgot about Django, He definitely deserved to be nominated for that but I still think he would have lost to Waltz.

I don't see why people are slamming his performance in The Revenant. Yes there was a lot of grunting and moaning but he was convincing in it. He pretty much became that character and if he wasn't a good actor the entire movie could have fell apart. Leonardo Dicaprio is about the last person you would think of when thinking of a mountain man, yet he pulled it off. He should also get credit for crawling around in the snow and mud for the long shooting period. He deserved it.

He deserved it.  It takes more work to carry a movie with less lines than it does talking the whole time.

Also in 2011 the actor in "The Artist" won Best Actor for a silent film.

Mostly agree.  I never really thought he was overrated and he gave Oscar worthy performances, but I agree that he was never snubbed because even when he was great, someone else was more deserving.  This year he absolutely deserved it, without a shadow of a doubt.

Ticked off that Sly Stallone was snubbed. The rest of the nation does feel that way.

This is the same nation that is responsible for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull being the third highest grossing movie of 2008, only one million out of second.  They are clearly not the best barometer on what makes a quality film.

Rylance was the best and if Bridge of Spies did not exist then Bale should have been the choice.

While I never saw Room I did see the rest and despite the criticism the Academy really did a good job across the board, one of their best in years.

I watched Room last night. All I can say- one of the most emotional films I've seen in years. Brie Larson was exceptional, but the kid was fugging amazing.

I'm a 60-year old man and I've seen my fair share of poo in this world, but that movie had me choking back tears.
