Jonathan Bullard, DT/DE, Florida

Wouldn't be upset at all if we took him in the 2nd.  Either way, I just want this to be a defense heavy draft.  Lot of vets leaving/retiring, need to replenish our defense with some youth.  Skip signing a vet DE and just double dip in the draft, d-line is deep this year, and then focus on the secondary.  The offense starting rotation is set, if anything, I would like to see us sign a few decent o-line guys for depth.   Let next years draft focus on the offense, LT, C, RB, WR, and maybe even a QB.  We need a backup for Cam after this season with Anderson most likely retiring.

Bullard is not going to be on the board after 60 picks. Undersize? CJ is 6'2 257 & was the highest paid panther until Cam. Bullard would be a very solid pick at 30 and a steal around 45.

Bullard, Star, KK, Kony

or

Addison, Kony, KK and Bullard! one gapping on 3rd and 5 plus!

Self discloser -- I am a little partial, :) I played at Crest.

I really like him at DE for us either staying at the weight he is or maybe dropping just a little bit if it would give him some extra agility. He just seems very talented and powerful. He would be a good investment in his early years because he can play the run very well and it seems he is coachable because he lined up all over the D-line at Florida and learned the positions. He also just seemed like a genuinely good guy, very similar to KK. I think he can learn to improve his pass rush.

When I see his 'tweener status I just remember last year's draft and Gettleman's combine presser last week where he said you have to get a little creative with the DEs in this draft for our defense. Now, I don't know what Gettleman thinks of Bullard or if he even rates him as a DE, but when I look at Bullard, I see someone who is very talented and versatile that we can get creative with on the D-line. He would be a disruptive force no matter where he lines up.

He's an athletic version of Charles Johnson with the ceiling of Michael Bennett.  He would play outside on early downs and slide inside in our 3rd down pass rush package.

Addison - Short - Bullard - Ealy

Give me that all day.  Restructure Johnson, add Bullard, and gradually give more and more of the snaps to Bullard as he earns them.

Forget about all of the long EDGE athlete projects.  Bullard is ready for the NFL right now and will make an impact as a rotatio player on day 1.  And he's a great athlete in his own right, with that 10yd split in a 6'3 280lbs frame.

He's at the top of my wish list for this draft (I like a few of the DTs - namely Billings - better, but I highly doubt they fall to us).  If he's there at 30,

I love it Gamecock! Here is my twist.

Ealy - Short - Bullard - Addison

I don't know why I would do and I know this is against common thought but I have Ealy on the right. Either way, wow! Luke and TD in the A gaps. Shaq playing nickel. Coleman and Boston trolling in center. #California-dreaming

Does anyone think with the average/below average 40 time we could see him drop to 60ish? There is still hope we get a 3rd round compensatory pick and could parlay that into jumping up into the second. So, does anyone else think I am crazy?

I don't know. Some people just don't think before they say stuff. When they don't see that 6'5" DE they go stupid.

People said he was a tweener as a 43 DE.

I could agree on him being a tweener at DT to some degree. But, look at Donald and Atkins. Theyre both much smaller.

I would say he's more of a tweener as a 34 DE than 43 DE.

Anything is possible, but I think his 10yd is more important than his 40yd, and his 10 was very strong.  In my opinion, his combine has solidified him as a first round pick - and we'd be lucky to get him at 30.  But anything can happen.  Hopefully other teams shy away for "tweener" concerns.
