WR may be a position that doesn't change much. Between KB, Funchess, Brown and Ginn the position is looking full, plus the team seemed to be high on Norwood in practice and off the field.

I could see a WR taken in a later round of the draft if the value is there.

Gettleman should have proven to everyone by now that he is going to take the best value (or, "BPA", if you prefer) regardless of the round. He has explicitly said this man times now. The position does not matter. He will not pass up the highest graded player on his board in any particular round if they are there, including receiver.

He traded up to get Funchess and said after that he was worried that there weren't any other good WRs left. If that isn't drafting for need then I don't know what is. He reinforced that this week by saying that the reason he did so was because he was worried what would happen if Kelvin got injured. Specifically targeting a position then trading up to get one is the definition of drafting for need.

The key thing that he said is that Funchess had a first round grade, and that's pretty much the end of the story.

He also has made comments to the effect that luckily his drafts have met the needs.

Every 2nd round pick ever drafted had a "1st round grade" according to the GMs that drafted them.
