Draft is deep at DT & C

Agree that there are some promising centers in this draft, and I've been interested in a few.

The question of drafting a center is a bit tricky, as you don't want to mess with the Oline chemistry..., it's not a position where we'd typically rotate players in and out, so how do you get a guy you've drafted enough quality snaps?

Hopefully Ryan has been forthright in discussing his thoughts about whether he'll want to play beyond this contract with the team so as to help them in knowing when we need to find his replacement.  I can't imagine he'd do anything less.  He's a "what's best for the team" guy through and through.

How did the transition between Ryan and his predecessor work?  I wasn't following the Panthers then.

Ryan Kalil is under contact thru the 2018 season and his cap hit is pretty tiny after this year. 10.3, 2.5, 779k respectively, so I doubt he goes anywhere, anytime soon. I do however believe we draft a DT in the first 3 rounds, did you see the smile on Gettle's face when talking about DT's in this year's draft. Expect the general public to lose its mind when it happens.

According to Spotrac, Kalil is a free agent next year

His contract voids after the year. Same thing that happened with Harper and Cotchery's deals.

No he has two voidable year's after this year. Its the team option to terminate the contract, it's not automatic. Cotchery and Harper had outlived their usefullness so they were let go, Ryan is playing at a high level and is a steal at those prices.....e.g. He stays

No. They are automatic voids. There is no team option. You really think an agent would let an all pro player even have the possibility of being locked into a contract with a $1M salary for 2 years? There's a reason that no salary is listed for Kalil on both Spotrac and overthecap.com

There is 3 or 4 elite OL players & 10 or 12 elite DL players. Its doubtful one of the OL players will fall to 30 but I think its likely a Defensive Linemen will be on DG's doorstep with the 30th. Any of these with the exception of a few bad apples would be a great addition.

Gettleman has said 100 times he doesn't draft players to develop for other teams. We're keeping our DTs.

I agree that neither of the DTs will be leaving but you can't keep everyone. You just have to be smart about the ones you let go and which ones you keep.
