Really? For a guy who was essentially the #4 receiver, the below stats are actually pretty impressive. What more are you expecting from the guy? 1 drop, 1st downs on 77.4% of his catches, no fumbles.

He got hurt in the Super Bowl making a spectacular catch and giving up his body to make that catch. Are you basing this off of the preseason games? Because apparently those are the only games in which you paid attention to Philly Brown.

Number 4 receiver?

He took more snaps as our "X" (our number 2) receiver than any other WR on the team, yet Funchess had him beat in almost every statistic. There were games last season were I didn't even his named called. Compare those numbers to other number 2 WR on other teams

Brown is a decent number 4 and shouldn't see much time next season if we take care of business this off season.

Our offense does not designate "x" as #2. it is a position in the play call, not an indication of what "number" receiver you are. But any way, I was referring to the fact that people here are calling him our #4 receiver, and the stats that I pointed out were drops and first down percentage.

Are you saying that Funchess was better in terms of drops and 1st down percentage. The debate is not on how much he was used, but how effective he was when used. And he was pretty damn effective.

He's going to be our #4 WR after KB, Funchess, Ginn. He will be the 5th option after adding Olsen to that mix. He's good enough for that for sure. I think he's a solid #3 truthfully. He made some huge plays for us this year. He rebounded nicely from his "hands issue."

Completely different situations.

Yes, a ACL tear is far more significant.

It seems to me that for some reason, Brown gets held to a higher standard here than our other receivers.  They all missed games due to injury, yet Brown is singled out for it.  They all dropped passes, but Brown gets singled out for it even though he drops fewer than some of the others do.

You could argue Brown is our best WR ..

Which says how bad our WR corps is

"But But But KB is better, and Funchess is better !!!"

Funchess is barely old enough to buy alcohol and Kelvin Benjamin could tear his ACL again in camp.

Benjamin is a big body, who knows how the tissue and ligaments will hold up .. Maclin looked like he was going to be fine recovering from ACL tear, looked as good as he did prior to tearing it BUT he tore it again. Torn ACL's are still very dicey even in 2016

There's way more to it than that. ACL injury is a fluke non contact thing. At the end of the day Kelvin is still 6'5" 240 and ACL recoveries are way more common than they were 20 years ago.

Brown's injuries are in the run of play. He hasn't been able to take the physical pounding of an NFL season.

Kelvin Benjamin has 2 years left on his contract with a 5th year option. Philly Brown does not.

Maybe Brown is getting singled out for it because this thread is about Brown. Honestly this is all obvious stuff I shouldn't have to explain. I think Philly is a nice player but I wouldn't offer him a contract much over league minimum because there are plenty of Philly Browns out there.
