Can we really trust Philly to be a more productive player for us??

His drops his body catches he doesn't help on special teams and he gets injured when he has to make a difficult catch..

His lost in the Super Bowl hurt and pretty much crushed our offense. . And how we lost him has been a problem for his career. . He jumps makes a play and lands hard on the ground and he's out a few weeks..

Can we really depend on him being our shifty speed guy going forward?

Or should we go get a better player who can be our short  make a guy miss in space type of player??

He only played significant minutes this year because KB got hurt and Funchess was raw.  I'm more concerned about the time it will take to develop Funchess.  Will he be a starter next year, or will we have to go through another season of him having 1 catch games?

Funchess showed up for the SB in his Rookie year.  The star is bright for sure.

Really? For a guy who was essentially the #4 receiver, the below stats are actually pretty impressive. What more are you expecting from the guy? 1 drop, 1st downs on 77.4% of his catches, no fumbles.

He got hurt in the Super Bowl making a spectacular catch and giving up his body to make that catch. Are you basing this off of the preseason games? Because apparently those are the only games in which you paid attention to Philly Brown.

I don't think anyone is talking about it because he was the only one who showed up in the SB. Is he still raw? Yes, but being "limited" by his measurables, he's still getting it done with the reps he's getting. He may not be #2, hell, maybe not even a #4 next year, but he will be a part of this offense.

So weird down to see folks getting down on Philly.

I think he's exactly what he is: a useful player on our offense.  He'll make some plays and be steady.   Generally, he makes positive outcomes with his plays.  If he continues to do that, he'll have a long career as a guy who makes plays and has a positive impact on his team.

I'd gladly take more guys like that on our team.

    • If we are going to spend the money anyway, maybe the signing is not as bad as it seems.  Mays outperformed Corbett (before his injury and if you go back to last year, Corbett has been below average) and then Christensen took the job and Mays quickly took it from him and never looked back.  He could use improvement reaching to the next level (LBs) but picking up stunts and blitzes---he was surprisingly good.  Run blocking needs some work, but he is 25.  Corbett, in my view, should be G/C depth and if Mays steps back, he is there.  Mays should start because this team is building for the future and 30 year old players are not building blocks.  We shall see.  That is how I think about it, but there are many factors we do not know. Having said that, I like what Zavala is doing, and I do not want to bring in someone who would take opportunities away from him.  Zavala was really good at RG down the stretch, and in limited duty, was awesome. In fact, we have a guard from the PS who played briefly and did well, but he only played a few plays.  He is 25 and I recall that fans of his former team were upset when we signed him.   Maybe as the backup center only (Corbett).  You need 2 centers to run practices efficiently.  I cannot say enough about the OL coaches on this staff.  What they have done is overshadowed by the Lewis / Hunt signing.  Mays, Ekwonu, Zavala--impressive growth.
