McGregor Versus Diaz UFC 196 March 5

Things got a little bit heated at the press conference.  Say what you want about McGregor...he knows how to sell a fight lol.  Of course McGregor was supposed to fight Dos Anjos but he broke his foot.  I was a little bit disappointed because I'd like to see this fight.  Dos Anjos just beat Diaz a little over a year ago by UD so maybe Diaz can at least make it interesting, or he could get lucky and win but I doubt it.

Nice fight between Tate and Holme.  Didn't catch the first 3 rounds but the last two looked like Holme was winning until Tate got inside and put that rear naked choke hold on her.  Very impressive patience shown by Tate, something Rhonda couldn't do.

Yeah I'm streaming as well.  The buffering is maddening at times but you just have to keep looking until you find one that isn't maxed out.  I found a decent one that only buffered twice in those two rounds so I didn't miss anything.  Now watch it start to fug up now that McGregor and Diaz is getting ready to start.

Diaz looks a little soft, he needs to hit the weights a little bit.

McGregor looks chiseled and very, very confident coming in.

Poor Bruce Buffer will never get out from under the shadow of Michael.  "It's TIME!!!!"  Weak.

McGregor dominated that first round.  Diaz was running around and didn't land much of anything.  Diaz looks scared.

Wow...Diaz caught McGregor in the second round with a nice shot and had him stunned.  I didn't think he would finish him off even though McGregor was stumbling around clearly dazed.  But about a minute or so later McGregor tried to take him to the ground and Diaz flipped the script and choked him out.

Amazing.

Diaz is a bloody mess though...lol.  You gotta hand it to him he was getting whooped until he landed that one shot.

Conor will be back. He was winning the fight until him being cocky got him clipped. People are shitting on him, but he fought 2 weight classes above his normal one and agreed to fight Diaz on short notice. I wouldn't even be surprised if Conor won an eventual rematch. 

 

Holm vs. Tate was very entertaining. Holm is a badass surviving that many submission attempts and refusing to tap. Miesha is a badass for pulling off the comeback because I was certain we were going to see a classic Greg Jackson points victory by Holly.

Yeah I think McGregor just tired himself out.  He was landing some nice shots...those shots would have probably ended the night for most featherweights.  If he paced himself he probably would have won easily.

Actually they're very laid back, nice guys in real life. Just like Conor they know how to build a persona and sell a fight.
