Right Tackle is not a major priority, anyone who thinks Gettleman won't give Daryl Williams every opportunity is kidding themselves.  Money will not be spent on the position, and if Remmers ends up starting again I don't think we will lose any sleep over it.  Can we do better? Absolutely but u can't have all stars everywhere there's a cap for a reason..WR depth, especially speed WRs is a priority.  If KB doesn't recover right, or Funch or Ginn gets hurt we are right back to being limited at the position..

He may not bring in any high priced FAs but you are kidding yourself if you think we won't be bringing anyone else in. Remmers was by far the worst lineman on the field for us all season. You don't just ignore that and hope for the best.

Travis Benjamin would worst case be the number 2 WR on this team. There is no way Ginn, Funchess or Philly are ahead of him on the depth chart.

I'd disagree on him being ahead of Funchess. We used a second round pick on him and he was drafted to be our number #2 going forwards. So the team really should make an effort to get him more involved because he has the skill set and potential to be a very good player. Did he have a big rookie year? Nope. Four hundred or so receiving yards and 5 TDs is nothing special based on what other receivers have achieved in recent seasons. However, there have been some pretty damn good receivers start their career without making a huge impact as a rookie like Dez Bryant, Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker are three recent examples. So while everyone should fight for their spot, in this case I wouldn't want to see Funchess' development hindered by the addition of a younger version of Ted Ginn.

Dont get me wrong. To put up nearly a thousand yards with Manziel and McCown as your quarterback is a good achievement. But, KB and Funchess as 1st and 2nd round picks should both be ahead of him. Plus, them being big bodied receivers is something we've clearly shown a preference to. As for Ginn, well, based on his performances with Cam in two separate seasons, I would say that Ginn would be ahead of him as well because of that chemistry and trust Cam has in Ginn. That's why I'd be reluctant to add a guy that's going to earn $6 million or so a season because unless the team forces Travis to be the number #2, I don't see him getting past KB, Funchess, and Ginn based on their chemistry and trust with Cam, and their own individual ability.

For me, Travis isn't a top tier guy, he's good and potentially he will carve out a career as a number #2 receiver on a team, but he's arguably not better than the top three guys we've got on our (my) depth chart. Perhaps he edges Ginn, due age and the fact when they started him he nearly hit a thousand receiving yards, though one must consider Ginn and Cam click as a QB-WR pairing. But even if he edges Ginn, that still only makes him a number #3 receiver because Funchess has a higher ceiling and so does KB. Personally I wouldn't pay $6 million or more on a guy that wouldn't significantly upgrade the receiving core in the 1-3 spots on the depth chart. There's better value to be had.

You have two players competing already for that spot on the right side, you really think they will bring in a low price FA that will be able to compete with an incumbent who the coaches like and a promising young mauler going into his second year? Doubtful, but they should bring in tackle depth in the event that Oher gets injured we are screwed.  The left side situation depth wise is scarier than the right if you look at it objectively but a versatile veteran who could play both tackle spots in a spot start would be nice..they just don't grow on trees and aren't usually cheap

dudes a fuggin wigger that believes if he types using ebonics and other slangs that it will make him appear more tough or cool or something really strange.

He'll claim he's just messing with us or trolling, but its apparent how much he cares about this internet persona. Personally it's not only annoying but I'm sick of reading these thread titles trying to figure out what the fug is being said.

And it's always about some fugging player we aren't going to sign.

(patiently awaits to be quotted by OP about the miami hurricanes or some other lame ass insult to distract everyone from the fact that people are sick of this stupid BS.)

i'm not fluent in AA english but wouldn't it be "he a free agent" since "be" indicates a general state of existence? "he be a free agent" would mean "that dude is a free agent every single year"

weird

Would be a great signing IMO, the guy is Ted ginn who can catch and makes plays on the ball, look at the play he made against Denver this pass season. I also think he would win out for the #2 spot but he has potential to be even more. Him and KB on the outside with funchess working the slot would be a matchup nightmare, and not to mention Olsen working the sideline and middle of the field. Wouldn't hurt to at least bring him in, would solve the wr issue for years IMO

totally disagree, Benjamin is and will be better than Funchess in the future.

So you'd be happy giving up or stricting Funchess' development after one season?

Because that's what may happen if they signed Travis Benjamin since Funchess would be relegated to three and four receiver sets and limited playing time. Not really the treatment a second round pick should face in their second season. But I guess in our position it's more about putting the best players out there to help us compete and win a Super Bowl, though I still don't see us spending a lot on the receiver position in free agency due to their investment in Funchess. For me, the kid has a lot of upside and needs to be more involved, if he is, he will shine brighter than Travis Benjamin.

That said, if you meant Kelvin Benjamin, then I'd agree with you that he will be better than Funchess.

Why would it take playing time away from Funchess?  He's penciled in at WR2 next year. If anything signing Travis would take playing time away from Ginn and Philly which I'm fine with.  Ginn wasn't supposed to be our number 1....

Because a receiver like Travis Benjamin won't be cheap. I'm speculating, but for Cleveland to let him test free agency I think it's safe to say he's wanting to get paid. If he is wanting a salary similar to Ginn ($2 million a season) or Hartline ($3 million a season), then at those prices Cleveland should have signed him up. For him not to have signed, I suspect he is wanting nearer to Golden Tate ($6 million) or more. I could be wrong, maybe they haven't signed him up because they have other plans at receiver, but the kids going to get paid well by some team this off season.

Like I said if you pay a receiver Golden Tate money that player becomes your number #2 receiver. At that level he would take Funchess' place and push him to third or fourth on the depth chart. So outside of three and four receiver sets, or rotating Travis and Funchess in two receiver sets depending on what we are going to do on the passing play, that potentially leaves Funchess with less play timing because if you're paying Travis Benjamin he's not going to sit behind Funchess and Ginn. That's why I'd prefer to draft another receiver in the mid to late rounds, or pick up another bargain bin receiver like Ginn, because I like our top three going forwards and just need to add depth and options for the offense.

Why are we so against adding legitimate receiving weapons to this team? Yes, big men allow you to compete.  But that doesn't mean a surehanded speed demon won't help either. And frankly, I'm tired of seeing the consistent drops and inability to make plays with the ball in hand. I would bet this team gets the least YAC in the league. The playoff win against Arizona was what it should look like most games when you have a strong running game that includes your QB. Unfortunately that game was only an anomaly.
