Tag: Norman

Extend: CJ to help open up the cap.  He was frustrated with injuries this year.  Doubt he wants to play anywhere else, seems to love the guys he plays with and sure he sees a good opportunity to finish his career here with a good opportunity for ring.

FA signing:

Lamar Miller- this is the big splash signing.  Very talented kid who has been seriously under-used in Miami.  Kid could be a beast in our system.

Quinton Coples- Still has potential after being used the wrong way up in NY.  Local kid who could come into the rotation and have a 2 year prove me deal for the home team.

Eric Weddle- Will be hard, but think he will come at lower than you think at a vet friendly deal.  Still talented but getting up there in age and sees the opportunity to get that ring before he retires with his former DC.

Amini- Kid has been injured prone his whole career, but hasn't been terribly bad when he's played.  Vet minimum deal to backup Norwell and Turner

Tolbert- Shouldn't require a big contract, getting up there in age and close to this organization

WilD Card signing: Matt Kalil- rumors have been going around about him possibly being cut.  He can come in and play with his brother before he retires. He can compete for that right side.

Draft:

1st: Kevin Dodd- Big athletic DE who fits perfectly at 4-3 DE.  Gettleman LOVES his big ugly pass rusher, especially when it his biggest need this offseason.

Also could see trading out if the right guys aren't there.  LA is in a big need at QB.  If they don't get a FA like RG3, Jeff Goff the California kid could have the newly moved to SOCALs mouths watering and they are sitting there with 2 mid 2nd rounders.

2nd: Trade* Gettleman sees another option at jumping up and getting a big need that fell out of the 1st, and he has something that Dallas needs.  Dallas has not been the same after Demarco left even with that top OL.  Stewart while been injured most of his career, doesn't have near the miles for a RB his age.  Stewart was a big part of this top offense this year putting up a solid pro bowl year.  With signing the younger Miller, there is no-need to hold onto Stewart.  Dallas grabs him and gives him a 1-2 year extension to his contract to soften the contract $$.  Trading away Stewart, our 62nd pick, and a 2017 4th.  We get the 34th pick.

34th pick: Would love Kendall Fuller here and have seen him falling into the 2nd on many mocks after not have a good 2015 prior to going down for the year with a big knee injury.  Instead we get, William Jackson.  Big athletic Corner who just slips out of the 1st.  Solid #2 until Norman leaves the following year.

3rd: Willie Henry- Big Athletic DT who came out a little too early and in a Super Deep Draft.  Much like Trai Turner, this kid had a big year just starting to show his potential and most had him as 1st round DT next year.  Love didn't do bad, but a BIG reason we saw teams come back on us this year is depth on the DL.  Star's biggest weakness since he's came out  has always been that he gets fatigue quick.  If his snaps get cut down some, he is one of the most dominate NT out there.  After halftime of games our inside penetration dropped Fast.  Henry could come in and take some snaps while learning.

4th: Nick Verrnett- Big Athletic great blocker but RAW.  Perfect fit for the TE spot Dickson is playing. Dickson struggled big time blocking this year.  Dickson could be a Great backup for Olsen at that spot but doesn't need to be playing where he's at.  Vernett could come right in and be an upgrade while still learning the receiving side from 2 talented guys in Olsen and Dickson.

5th: Max Tuerk- Not sure how many seasons Kalil has in him, Kalil can help groom up his replacement from alma matter.

7th: Marquez North- 7th round guys are a good spot for a boom bust.  North a local Charlotte native cam into Tennessee really hyped and came out looking like looking like the next big thing his freshman year.  Unfortunately his next 2 were full of injuries hardly staying on the field, he left Tennessee early.  Kid realistically by athletic ability and hands looking back to his freshman year has the potential to be one of the top WR in this draft.  Coming home and starting fresh may be the best option for him

Crazy stuff.  I like the draft if it could fall like that.  Not certain hwo down I am for the FA though.  Miller's gonna get paid.  Coples has no heart (from what I could tell).  Weddle is reasonable.  Tolbert...eh I like the guy, great for the locker room and chemistry, but I really feel a true FB would work wonders for our offense.  Would definitely help mask some of our blocking deficiencies.  Amini is bad, his injuries have always actually helped the team because it got him off the field.  Baby Kalil would be an obviously interesting idea if he were to get cut (don't see that happening though).
