cam newton gets slammed no matter how he acts in press conferences.  he's either too mopey or detached, too emotional, not emotional enough, or in this case "unprofessional".

It's amazing that Cam's press conference is still being discussed. You would think he cursed the media out or pulled his dick out since his press conference is STILL getting so much attention.

Cam would've been criticized for his press conference even if he wouldn't have walked out.

The media would've criticized him for being sad. Cam can't show any type of emotion without some idiot being pissed off about it.

He can't win no matter what.

Be careful what you ask for Yankees. Sometimes it's better to have a guy be himself and you accept that he has some rough edges that you'll live with than to present yourself as perfection and then when you do mess up (and you will because, you know, humans) your whole facade crumbles. For me, I'd rather know someone has some faults and live with that.

It's a horrible comparison because RW had already won a super bowl so the pain of losing one wasn't near what Cam was going through. Once you get that 1st super bowl win the rest are just gravy.

It reminds me of when Steve Young won in 1995 and pretended to throw a monkey off his back because of the pressure that following Montana had brought. Can you imagine if he would have lost how he would have felt?

The Panthers owner and PR dept needs to do, or not, whatever they feel is appropriate with Cam

richardson pays him, I don't, and the media doesn't, however learning how to be a professional, and yes dealing with the press is part of being a professional,  and is part of the deal as a franchise QB and we all know this and it is a learned skill 

Then again, sometimes we can try our best and not get the result we want.  As adults, we learn to do that with grace too.  It does not require to not be true to oneself to be graceful. 

again, the Panthers PR dept, needs to step it up here and be present and it isn't the first time.  

If the desire is for the Panthers brand to expand outside of the Carolinas, attention to this is needed.  The media drives the NFL, that attention drives money, and money drives the NFL not the other way around, meaning you can't just be Superman in good times, but need to be in bad times as well..and if you can't be consistent, then  drop it.

for a lot of people that super bowl and press conference was painful  it was painful for me and I am a season ticket holder

Fairness doesn't enter into it.  Cam fed into the narrative.  He is old enough to know better now and the Panthers PR dept, and every sport and team has one, needs to step it up too.

"the narrative", being nice to the press, and being a good little QB-bot when the cameras are on you has nothing to do with football and it never will.  i doubt cam's teammates give a crap about how he carries himself in press conferences.

get worried when he isn't being a professional in the weight room, locker room, or film study because that will impact the panthers' ability to win games.  and there's no indication any of that is going to be a problem.

take heart, though.  i'm sure that, by this point, someone in the organization has had a sit down with cam and coached him up on the best way to stand in front of a bunch of cameras and recite cliches with a thousand yard stare on his face.
