okay so here's my brief background. From LA, grew up a huge UCLA fan since both parents went there, started at a college that didn't have football so stayed a UCLA fan, then I transferred to USC and completely flipped haha.

1. Los Angeles Dodgers

2. University of Southern California Football

3. Carolina Panthers (because I followed Desean Foster and Ricky Manning Jr. into NFL/No NFL team in LA to root for)

1-3 are honestly all fairly close, but I'd take a Dodgers world series over anything.

big drop off....

4. Los Angeles Lakers

5. Oklahoma City Thunder (loved Westbrook at UCLA)

1. Alabama Football

2. Carolina Panthers

3. Cleveland Indians

4. Charlotte Hornets

That's about it for the teams I actively root for. I grew up close to Charlotte and attended grad school at Bama. Became an Indians fan after watching Major League as a young kid, and my wife is actually from Akron, OH, which has strengthened my fanaticism. Obviously, I root for any US team, whether it be the Olympics, the World Cup, or whatever.

Seriously, I have one team in one sport and that's it. Only 16 (regular season) games a year to watch my team play.

I opened the thread just to see if anyone had said this. I am basically the same. I am a casual fan of other teams in other sports, but it's only the Panthers which really move me.

I will admit that I follow the whole of the NFL though, just not with the zeal, dedication and commitment that I follow the Carolina Panthers.

1) Panthers

2) Panthers

3) Panthers

4) Panthers

5) Baltimore Orioles - sentimental memories of 4 years in grad school when I listened to almost every single Orioles game on the radio / attended a bunch in person, as I lived 3 blocks from old Memorial Stadium.  (The Colts were long gone... Ravens didn't exist yet.  Baltimore was a one sports town...)

1. CAROLINA PANTHERS FOOTBALL

2. ECU PIRATES FOOTBALL

Wash, rinse, and repeat.  No other favorites, no other obsessions.

I might go to or watch rugby, basketball and baseball games but am not obsessed like I am with American football.  I also watch the Olympics and pull for the US national team and will watch the rugby and soccer world cups. I pull for the US NAtional teams first and some combination of other countries but any other sports only hold a transient interest.

1) Boston Red Sox
2 (tie) Carolina Panthers
2 (tie) Jamie McMurray
4) FC Bayern München
5) Charlotte Hornets
6) UNC Basketball/Football

#1 is on lockdown as baseball is my favorite sport and there is a substantial drop off after my second place tie.  Oddly, soccer is my second favorite sport by far as outside of MLB it is the only sport where I will sit down and watch if I have no rooting interest.  I have been such a huge fan of McMurray and the Panthers for so long though that they share the #2 spot.  When they are eliminated from competition though my interest in their respective sports immediately goes from 100 to 0.

Now if we can count flag football then the youth teams my buddy and I coach for the school we work at would be #1 by a mile, especially the 7-9 y/o team.  Some of those kids do not even know if they are winning or not.
