I say tag and trade. Love Josh Norman, and would love for him to stay, but he is after money. Let him chase it while we get some real DE and OL help for cam.

i like our team better when we are sacking the opposing qb with more consistency. When qb has time to throw and you have only one j no, it's up in the air for anyone to grab. I'd rather stomp the other team down before the ball goes airborn.

If we could get a top 10 pick. ✌️ Jno.

I do not disagree as I've been saying it for some time.  #13 overall plus a conditional 3rd/4th was the price for Revis in a near identical scenario.  The bad news is it was a disaster for the Bucs but the good news is it was because of the Bucs system, not Revis.

Again it really amounts to our GM's comfort level with the top of this draft.  Trading for the rush of it all or to accumulate a premier pick (and therefore leaving a huge hole at CB), is not the objective.  If it nets a Ronnie Stanley, Ezekiel Elliott, Jalen Ramsey type that we feel CERTAIN is an answer for us and we still get to keep #30 while saving a boatload of $$$ then it has to at least be considered.

It depends on what we would get back in a trade.  IMHO it'd have to include currency to get a player we consider to be at the TOP of our draft board this year.  Jax has an absurd amount of cap room, as do the Raiders.

Revis was traded at approximately the same age for the #13 overall pick and a conditional 3rd/4th.  Getting the Raiders pick at 14 or trading our 1st and JNo to Jax to get to #5 overall are the only "realistic" scenarios worth considering IMHO.  And that's only IF GMan thinks Bosa or Buckner is the next Reggie White.

But considering the money it would save it has to at least be a "consideration", even if I don't necessarily want it per se.  And as far as sentiment, GMan didn't become the godfather by having a heart.  Not even in the same stratosphere as losing #89 would be.

Strictly business.  Gotta consider everything.

There's no one in the draft as good as J-no is currently. Maybe in a couple years, yeah...but then we're looking at a guy who's gonna take time to develop and we need help in the backfield already.

I would be shocked if we don't daft  a CB with one of our first 4-picks and I expect Gettleman to sign a vet CB or 2 in free agency regardless.

Tag and then let him walk after the season. Unless some comes offering a second or better then I'm seriously thinking about a trade.

I've got to disagree with you here. There's no one in the draft or currently on our rosier that can fill J-No's shoes.

Agaim, I expect a CB to be taken in this year's draft, but it will take that pick a few years to even have a shot at developing into a shut-down corner.

i also think we'll bring in a CB or 2 to compete in the preseason/on the practice field to earn a spot opposite J-No and who knows, maybe that could be Norman's effectiveness.

Yes but money is a part of the equation.  Last year before Oher did a sufficient job and Joe Thomas was rumored to be on the market, I said no way would I trade him for Shaq Thompson.  Joe Thomas was the #25 player on the top 100 at a far more premium position, and Shaq was the #25 pick in the draft at a position we were already stacked.  Straight up its a no brainer but 5 years on a rookie deal for a guy in his early 20s is infinitely better monetary value than a guy making five times that at or above 30.

JNo's money could be used in too many ways to count, and while our corners wouldn't be as good (or, should I say, #1 corner wouldn't be as good) maybe our team would be with upgraded play at other positions with those funds.  All hypothetical.

I'm not sure if GMan feels this draft is "special" or not.  Some say it is, some say it isn't.  But he needs to be informed regarding all prospects for this reason.  And no doubt he is imho.

For most players I would agree with you.   IMO Norman is not a regular type of player.   Truly is a shut down corner.  We have developed him and he knows our scheme.  We bring in a new replacement it might take years for that player to come around and still might not be at the high caliber player Josh is.

If Gettleman is smart, and he is, he'll work out a cap friendly contract that will respect Josh and not break the bank.  He deserves to get paid and we need to keep him.

If we lose, Josh Norman our defense will not be nearly as nasty as 2015.

Gettleman doesn't think so.
