The "what if Cam Newton did this....." columns are getting out of control

Cam is well on his way to becoming the face of the NFL. His name is going to be popping up everywhere for a wide variety of reasons. The bottom line is that if Cam were white, then very few people would care about his showboating. The media can bring up this fact for at least a few more years before it's going to become stale.

Oh no, even if we do win SB51 the media will find a way to downplay Cam and our guys victory. Carolina never has been a team that the media likes to say good things about, and that was even before we got Cam lol. Oh well, they had better get used to it since I see our team being front runners for many upcoming years.

I dont know why all this attention is a bad thing. For a solid 10 years everyone outside of Carolina thought the only player on our team was Steve Smith. Now we're the most talked about team in the league. Im kinda enjoying it honestly

i don't think i've ever seen a losing super bowl team get so much coverage.  maybe the 18-1 patriots were close.

but yes, the days of the panthers being a sleepy little forgettable southern team with no real household names are over

Yes becuase Panthers never won the big game. Until we get the rings we will be downplayed, things will change next year.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
