Kayak Fishing Once Again

That time of year again. Making my kayak fishing plans. 

 

Will be hitting up the local lakes and doing some inshore fishing in the Carolinas and Florida. ay do a week long kayak tour down 95. Just stop and stay overnight somewhere that looks promising. 

 

Anyone else pick up this hobby lately? The most fun fishing I have ever had.

Got some family with a house in Florida on a canal. Not much better than sitting on the dock with a fishing rod in hand. Hell I don't even care if I catch anything. Got some kayaks too but I'm not into that. The younger boys do go out fishing in them though.

i have 2 yaks that i put in at the lake wylie dam. you can float down to riverwalk (3.6 miles) or river park (6.5 miles). the next take out is 18 miles away at landsford canal. a few years ago we launched from the dam fished all day and hammock camped on an island about 12 miles down river. got up the next morning and fished until we reached landsford. best catching is the top portion of the trip and around landsford at the south. i'm not opposed to doing this trip again. i've seen some big bass pulled from the catawba. also seen plenty of bream and gar.

Once house upgrades done and taxes paid...I'm going to be in the market.  Either a Manta Ray or Slayer...depends on money at the time.  GetOutdoors in Greensboro will be doing their March manufacturer defect sale I hope.
