THIS, please pin this and end thread

but...... but...... if we don't talk about all sorts of potential draftees, what IS there to talk about for 2 more months before the draft?!?!  How on earth am I going to continue to waste 2 hours a day on the Huddle?  HOW?!  I DEMAND ANSWERS!

[On a more serious note, I totally agree with the post you're responding to about how Dave drafts, and that ultimately makes these mock draft threads a lot of hot air.  However, for me (as one who's new to looking at draft prospects), the fun is not in arguing who we should take in a given round and trying to prove a point, but in trying to guess who'd Dave have at #1 if the draft shakes out the way the mock shakes out... it's in trying to identify who might be there on Dave's board, what he's looking for.  Also, by identifying a group of maybe 15-20 prospects who interest me and who look like they could fit our profile, I expect it will make the draft more interesting, following what happens to them from round to round.]

Sucks ass having to wait so long for the draft. Thanks Gordell.

I always thought it would be cool to have FA officially open a week after the draft.  Would be a much better and more efficient way to complete a roster and would likely benefit vets as teams would be chomping at the bit with cap room and dedicated "need" slots.

I think the reason why it's in the order it is now is because teams like the ability to go BPA.

seems like the ability to go BPA is best served by having FA available to fill holes by going BPA.

Gettleman, for example, prefers to fill immediate holes using free agents so that he can draft BPA.  And I think that's a fairly common practice.  Probably helps that free agents are more of a known quantity than draft picks (especially past the first few rounds).

They could probably try it reversed, but so far there's no indication it'll be considered.

(heck, people freaked out over just moving the draft dates)

I'll pass on Mackenzie Alexander....didn't he have a grand total of ZERO interceptions for his entire college career? That is a little conceding to me, most guys would luck into at least a couple for their whole career. We like guys who cause turnovers...Alexander ain't that.

There's an article at SBNation with piecharts for each team summing up the results of 40+ Mock Drafts

http://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-draft/2016/2/15/10899032/mock-nfl-draft-database-2016-tendencies-experts?_ga=1.142439355.881341911.1419200663

The pie charts are best viewed at the original site because they're interactive, when you hover or click on a slice of the pie you get more information.  If I just posted the picture, it would be hard to see which slice is for whom.

Obviously with the Panthers picking so late, we're kind of all over the place with many different players being picked.  "Other" is the biggest section for all the players picked one time in all the mocks.

DE Kevin Dodd is the leader so far,

Quote

7 – Kevin Dodd
4 – Eli Apple
4 – Emmanuel Ogbah
3 – Jason Spriggs
3 – Vonn Bell
2 – Mackensie Alexander
2 – Jack Conklin
2 – Kendall Fuller
2 – Derrick Henry
2 – Shon Coleman
2 – Will Fuller
1 – Jonathan Bullard
1 – Alex Collins
1 – Jerald Hawkins
1 – Shilique Calhoun
1 – Josh Doctson
1 – Sheldon Rankins
1 – Sterling Shepard
1 – Tyvis Powell
1 – Noah Spence
1 – Corey Coleman
1 – Shaq Lawson

Quite surprised none of these mocks have us going for RB Elliott Ezekiel, who I think if he were BPA at #30, we would take.  Obviously RB is not considered a "position of need" for us in the mocks, so, you'll pretty much see all the mocks picking DEs, OTs or CBs....
