Gettleman will take his highest rated player when we are on the clock.

This is why I stopped getting into the draft once we found a competent GM. He ranks these guys and sees how the draft works its self out and then takes whoever is left on his list, and it works.

the 5th ranked DE in the draft could be available and if Dave has his #1 player available that happens to be a CB, he's going corner.

I agree. I think DE is his bpa dream and mine, but I have a weird feeling Getts might grab a guy like Jason Spriggs or Germain Ifedi, or even a DT like Vernon Butler if he values them higher.

This year is really deep in DT, DE and CB's into the early 3rd and strong at OT until the mid 2nd.

Gettleman is not taking a CB round 1. Ill put all my money on a DE

Look at the Giants picks from 1999-2012. You might be surprised.  Will Allen (01), Aaron Ross (07), and Price Amukamara (11), were all CBs.  Some of the others might surprise you as well.

Daniel Jeremiah has us taking Eli Apple.

One thing to remember when looking at any mock draft, analysts have a tendency to draft based on need rather than BPA.

At our spot I think a corner like Apple could easily be BPA. DE and CB both have great players hovering around 1-2 that would be BPA there and they both happen to be our biggest needs.

I'm also not quite ready to give up on Bene as a #2. I think he's the potential to be one of the best corners in franchise history. The kid is extremely football smart, and has all of the tools to be great.

I'd rather draft a solid nickle in the 3rd/4th. This of course has a lot to do with Josh Norman's decision.

I think he's better on the outside anyway.

(Big Ole Miss fan here)

Nkemdiche falling that fall but not landing to us would really suck. Dude is a beast and has been for 3 years, but wow talk about poor decision making skills. He and his brother (starting senior linebacker at Ole Miss) both got into "spice"....synthetic marijuana and it messed his brother up real bad and caused Robert to jump out of a 4th story hotel window in Atlanta.

It easily cost Robert millions of dollars as a top 10 pick.

Spice is bad, kids! Don't do it...just smoke the REAL stuff instead if you have to get high.

How else can you figure out If you're the Kwisatz Haderach?

Eli Apple or Hunter Henry in the 1st.

I just spent too much time playing with the Fanspeak draft simulator, trying out all 6 of their Big Boards, and doing a 5 round draft for each.

http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/draft.php?d=declcn

TE Hunter Henry (6'5, 253) came up as being available for us to pick in 4 of the 6 drafts.   In 3 drafts he was our 2nd round pick, in one draft he fell to the 3rd round (doubt that will happen in real life.)

Was very impressed with what I read about him, and would be quite cool with this pick, hoping we could get him in the 2nd round.  (With this write up = Jason Witten comparison, best TE in the 2016 draft... hard to believe he'd really fall to the end of the 2nd round....)

Overview

Three years ago, the Razorbacks were delighted to have a legacy recruit in their backyard (Little Rock), who just happened to be one of the top tight end prospects in the country. His father, Mark, played offensive tackle for Arkansas from 1988 to 1991, serving as a team captain his senior year. Hunter didn't make it to his senior year, however, choosing to enter the 2016 NFL Draft after a spectacular junior season where he won the John Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end and garnered consensus first team All-American honors. The first-team All-SEC pick by league coaches and media had 51 catches for 739 yards and three scores on the year. This production wasn’t out of the blue, given his recruiting status and production as a sophomore (37-513, two touchdowns receiving) and a true freshman in 2013 (28-409, four scores despite fighting issues in both knees).

Analysis

Strengths

Flat-running stud as a run blocker and a big part of Arkansas' running game success. Strikes into the frame of defenders with inside hands and blocks with a wide, strong base. Able to turn outside linebackers and cornerbacks out of their run fits and sustains his blocks as long as he can. Had no drops and 51 catches this season. Able to secure contested catches and eminent hits won't scare him away from the catch. Able to work all three levels as a go-to target. Too talented to be covered by most linebackers. Able to run a variety of routes and has no reason to leave the field.

Weaknesses

Don't need much space for this section. Can get a little grabby as a run blocker and was penalized for three holding calls in 2015. Is a little upright into his breaks with rounded turns over sharp cuts. Is a little labored when adjusting his routes to traffic.

NFL Comparison

Jason Witten

Bottom Line

By the far, the premier tight end in the 2016 draft. Henry is a big body with the athleticism to get open, the hands to finish catches in traffic and the blocking ability to help give a running game the additional kick it might be missing on the edge. Henry should come in and become a very good NFL starter.
