As a person that goes to NCSU.  Why do State fans always seem to be okay with liking Duke?  Or not having the same hatred as they do for UNC?  This is befuddling to me.

UNC vs Duke the last 87 times they've played?  Duke 44 UNC 43 with a 15 point spread for Duke.  Good luck finding that with any other rivalry.

To fans, the "rivalry" is UNC vs. Duke.  To NCSU players/students, the UNC/NCSU rivalry is REAL, and so is the "hate" between the two.  It's been that way for ages.

Yeah, but my issue with that is it's not a rivalry on paper.  More like a murder scene from a horror movie.

On paper that's true, and it's true for most anyone outside of those 2 teams.  To them though?  poo's real.

Fans of both teams could play that game going back years and years.  I'm a Duke fan, and I hope they win.  What's real though?  It doesn't matter who the favorite is.  It doesn't matter if one team is ranked, and the other isn't at all.  The games are ALWAYS dog fights.  Been that way for years.  Almost every meeting is a damn good game, and usually really close.  That's one of the reasons that it's one of the most highly touted meetings in all of college basketball.  See below.
