6th: Antwaun Woods, DT, USC: It never hurts to keep your strengths strong and with a late-rounder we add some talent that will hopefully help keep our DT rotation strong.

I think Jared Allen was acquired with our 2016 6th rd pick.

This and do we know if Norwood met the 'conditions' of the trade, so that we lose our 7th round pick?

Norwood was traded for a 2017 conditional 7th round pick, so even if he did meet the conditions, it wouldn't matter until next year.

My first attempt of the offseason...

CONTRACT EXTENSIONS:
C Ryan Kalil (4 years)

No, I think we'll sign KK before Kalil.

RE-SIGN:
QB/WR/ST Joe Webb (2 years)
DT Kyle Love (2 years)
OG Amini Silatolu (2 years)
FB Mike Tolbert (1 year)
WR Brenton Bersin (1 year)

If we resign Tolbert, I think it will be more than a year.

Others to resign.

JJ Jansen.

Remmers - as backup on the Oline.

Likely resign Brad Nortman, but that depends on how good the new punter is that we signed.

? Stephen Hill

? Velasco / Scott - we may resign them as depth / competition at training camp until we see how good any Oline free agents, draftees pan out.  I'm not so sure we'll resign Silatolu or Chandler... depends on their health and cost.  Both have been very injury prone.  Velasco & Scott did well as backups.

FREE AGENCY:

P Bryan Anger (3 years): Brad Nortman is a free agent and rather than re-signing him or investing another draft pick in a punter, I like the idea of signing Anger. He's always been known as the guy the Jags took over Russell Wilson, but he's got a big leg and would be an upgrade over Nortman for us.

We just signed a new punter: Swayze Waters.  Don't know the contract terms.  Doubt we'd look for yet ANOTHER punter...

2016 DRAFT:
5th: Glenn Gronkowski, FB, Kansas State: Mike Tolbert isn't getting any younger and in this scenario we bring him back on a 1-year deal. Gronk's little brother would be the long-term answer to replacing Tolbert in our offense.

This is an intriguing pick.  I like the idea of having a Gronk in Carolina!

As far as the draft, we traded our 6th round pick in 2016 for Allen.

Nowood was a conditional 7th round pick in 2017, so that won't affect our draft this year.

DG extending a very expensive 31 year old center for 4 more years seems highly unlikely

what has Matt Kalil done to warrant a 2 year contract?just because his brother is a good ballplayer isn't the way our scouting department and DG evaluates talent

Brenton Bersin was on the bubble during training camp this past season, and more than likely would've been cut if KB hadn't torn his ACL

edit: Ryan Kalil will not be 31 until March the 29th

There is no change Spriggs is there in the 4th. Most mocks I see have him going no later than 2nd round.  A lot of mocks have us drafting him at 30 because he will be one of the last high vauled tackles in this draft after Tunsil, Stanley, Conklin, Decker, and possibly Shon Coleman (hes getting some love as of late).  I love would Dobb at 30 but thinks some one will take him before us.  I like the rest of the FA offseason ideas.  The William Jackson pick in the 2nd would be huge too.

I can see a Kalil extension being completely reasonable. He's still in his prime as a center in his early 30's, he is one of the best in the league at his position, and he's a team captain. I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign a 3 year extension that would allow him to play to the tail end of his prime, and even then O-Lineman have the tendency to stick around in the league forever, he could very well play into his late 30's.

amongst NFL oLinemen centers tend to have the highest longetivty rate.also ,i personally agree with you that Kalil has more than likely at least a few good years left in the tank

however,DG extending a 31 year old center and paying him what hes worth seems unlikely.Kalil is set to make around 8 million this season and would be asking off the top of my head at least roughly 30 million on a 3 year extension.

I actually enjoyed this mock. I enjoy guessing as long as it's not taken too seriously. I liked your FAs of Mario W (I feel like he won't command that much and could be a solid addition for 3 years or so) , Kalil (Don't know what happened to him after being so high in the draft but hey why not try) & Robinson (need depth). Also like the 1st round pick but tbh don't know much about college guys I just like the position you chose.
