Davidson, Scherer working to get Panthers' offense in gear

(By Charles Chandler, [email protected]) Carolina Panthers' offensive coordinator Jeff Davidson walked off the practice field with perhaps even more of a steely eyed look than usual Thursday, while quarterbacks coach Rip Scherer remained on a far field working overtime with newly arrived backup A.J. Feeley.p/Their week is full as they try to help starting quarterback Jake Delhomme and the Panthers' offense recover from a seven-turnover performance in last week's 38-10 loss to Philadelphia and prepare for Sunday's game at Atlanta.

remember when some of us were worried about the panthers giving up the ball gratuitously in the preseason, and everybody else calling us stupid and talking about how it was only preseason?

Yep we are no longer in the minority. I wish it wasn't so but there are a lot of ?'s about this team.

And why does this coaching staff not have faith in Moore. There working overtime to get Feely ready to play Sunday when we have a guy with potential that has been in the same offense for 2 years. I'm all for getting this getting him the extra time but this screams that we don't have faith in Moore. I think Moore gives this team the best chance to win constantly and should get a chance to start.

Yep, I was one of the people clamoring to stay calm and be confident.

I guess now it doesn't seem like sound advice. :(

To be fair the preseason mostly showed our weakness to runs between the tackles and fumbles, not runs to the outside and interceptions, at least from what I remember.

Its because Matt Moore just isnt that good....I dont know why some of you have such a hard on for him. Its just not gonna happen with him around here, I think that they have made that painfully obvious.

Dont take that as me saying that Jake is any good, because he is not....its just that neither of them are worth a damn, and Jake has always been the starter so I guess its gonna stay that way until, God forbid, they decide to put Feeley in there. :(

Yes, but Moore hasn't proven he can't play in this league yet.

Feeley most definitely has.

oh great the justified homer card is being pulled again...

...i call it as i see it

I'm not saying be a homer, but there's no point in being pessimistic when it comes to sports, because it never feels good being right. There is no such thing as "calling it how you see it", there's always a slant.

Oh yeah preseason could have really predicted that Jake would throw 4 picks given he threw 0 in the preseason. I guess the preseason would predict we would struggle against the pass but somehow we gave up very few yards.

I guess the preseason predicted the DTs would suck but somehow they played fairly good in the Eagles game.

The only consistent issues were giving up a special teams TD and Goodson fumbling. Otherwise the issues were completely different.

Amazing.......

no the panthers looked horrible in the preseason in absolutely all facets of the game and anyone who was optimistic by screaming "records don't matter" was a stupid baby who can't face reality

But the reality is that many of the things people were whining about weren't issues on Sunday. The things that bit us on Sunday weren't issues for the most part in the preseason. So the point was valid that the preseason had little to do with the regular season.
