20th Century Fox revealed at Toy Fair 2016 that they would be targeting an R-rating for Hugh Jackman's final run as Wolverine next year.

This news follows the massive success of Fox's first R-rated standalone super hero movie, as Deadpool absolutely killed the box office this weekend. They previously dabbled with R-rated comic book movies earlier in 2015 with Kingsman: The Secret Service, which also turned out to be a surprise hit, though not as big a success as the world's new favorite merc.

One has to wonder if these plans were made and revealed today following the success this weekend or if the R-rating was already planned prior to Deadpool's box office explosion. Let's bet on the former. In any case, what are your thoughts on an R-rated finale to Hugh Jackman's run as Wolverine?

We have reached out to FOX for comment, and will let you know as soon as we hear back.

The Wolverine sequel, which will be Hugh Jackman's last, is set for release March 3, 2017.

Yeah wolverine needs more than just blood and guts. He needs to be more super. More athletic, more agile, more fun to watch. Hugh Jackman is a big name but hes pretty boring aside from the zingers. And the story lines need to be powerful.

I enjoyed Deadpool but it would be a big mistake for hollywood to copycat that film. It was successful because it was different. People were growing tired of the generic super hero movies. It's a novelty, not a standard.

I'm not a Wolverine fan. I don't like how other characters who are much better got pushed aside for Wolverine to be front and center of everything. Much like his first appearance fighting the Hulk Wolverine is much better in an ensemble than being front and center of everything. I do like how Deadpool made more in a weekend than The Wolverine did it's entire run.

I WISH they would give the Punisher an adequate R rated film.

I actually liked both recent attempts at giving him a movie, but it basically should have been way better than they were.

I will definitely be watching the standalone Punisher Netflix series, and I hope it does it justice. Daredevil has been kind of boring as poo to me. I haven't even finished season 1 because I keep falling asleep during the episodes.

As far as Wolverine being in an R rated movie, they kind of missed their opportunity with the Weapon X stuff they have already addressed.

While I've enjoyed every movie with Wolverine in it, being entertained really doesn't take much.

I've always been disappointed that they didn't do Wolverine, in a much darker way, that truly reflects the animal he is.

That being said, I'll see this one in the theater also.
