Hornets interested in Dwight!!!

Broussard was just on Mike and Mike, and he said Dwight asked for Morey to contact Charlotte because he wants to play here and play for Steve Clifford considering their past.

He then went on to say, that it is NOT happening.  He also said interest across the league in Dwight is extremely low.

Should put a disclaimer there that it is Broussard, so take it with a BIG grain of salt.

We'll see who budges first. Morey wants SOMETHING for an asset he has no intention of keeping around.

if that is true - that Howard wants to play under Clifford's system [Dwight in the middle and shooters all around (Kemba, Lin, Lee, Daniels, Batum, Lamb, Hawes)] we need to make that happen.

my only hangup on Howard was that he might leave after a year- but if he in fact asked Morey to talk to us then that means he would potentially sign a 2-3 yr deal after this year. We never get big name FAs. C'mon BBall gods. Allow this to happen

Yeah, in the same discussion, Broussard also said the Clippers have a trade ready to go at any moment - Stephenson and Wilcox to CHARLOTTE for CHANNING FREY.  So, yeah, i take it with a grain of salt, lol.

Yeah, it sounds like we have interest and Dwight wants to come here.  I've said time and time again, his personality has just made me never want anything to do with him, but honestly...  i'm starting to think we need to make this move.  As many have said, we aren't likely to lure any big name FAs until we are established as a destination.  This is our chance to make a run in the east, give ourselves a solid 3-4 years of top 4 basketball, while establishing ourselves as a FA destination, and adding/acquiring additional talent through further trades and the draft (big white guys, hello).

If we give up something like Jefferson/Marvin for him I'd be okay with it, maybe toss in a player like Cody. Dwight's value is pretty minimal right now and while I don't like him too much I'd probably be willing to kick the tires on him for a bit, he was really good when he was built with 4 shooters around him.

Something like this would be worth a look if we didn't really give anything up:

Kemba / Lin

Lee / Lamb / Harrison

Batum / Daniels

Frank / Hawes

Dwight / Hansbrough

I will add though, losing Marvin would be tough as ridiculous as that sounds, he has been damn good this year.

Crap. Now you're going to be upset if it doesn't happen. Lol.

With legitimate MKG insurance in place and a west coast road trip out of the way, the Hornets have enough in place to make the playoffs (health permitting, obviously.) At best, a Dwight addition maybe puts you in the top half of the East but not in the title mix.

At worst, it's a catastrophic move that ultimately costs Cho his job.

If Dwight doesn't happen, and it doesn't look like it will, it's not the end of the world.

No, honestly, it doesn't move the needle much for me either way.  It would be nice talent-wise, but considering my previous stance on dwight, i wouldn't be too tore up if it didn't happen.

It might not happen, but the Lee trade fills two things. 3 and D, plus good friends with Howard. 

 

I'm a make a prediction. No first rd pick but MKG and Jefferson for Howard. Other possibility would be Jefferson, Williams, 1st round pick. 

 

60-40 that it happens and it will be last minute.
