Salary cap is expected to jump to at least $155M this year. Nearly $12M more than last year's ($143.28M).

There's rather major argument against the theory that it "all evens out".

Basically, some guys know what they're doing. Some guys don't.

Some GM's will blow huge stacks of cash within the first 24 hours of free agency. These same guys will likely be back to do the same thing next year and everybody associated will sit and wonder why their teams aren't winning.

Others will shop smart and spend wisely.

And that makes all the difference.

Then they will be wondering why they are unemployed 2 years later....

I agree. I personally want to Norman locked up for 3-4 more years. Not in favor of a 1 year rental via franchise tag. Granted franchise tag will likely be used to create more time to work out long term deal, I just hope we make the long term deal.

The only problem I foresee is that I expect that Norman thinks he's worth more than Gettleman does. 1 great season does not a top-paid Cb make. I don't believe Gettleman will ever overpay a player. Hence my hope that Josh will back down a little on the dollar amount to get a long term deal and a ring.

22.3 Million. Plus 8.5 once Allen is released. so we should be right at 30 Million. Cutting CJ would put free up another 11 Million, giving us over 40 Million.

Our roll over in unused cap almost covers our dead money this year thus far.

Here is every teams cap space based on a 154 million projection. We are 20th in cap space according to Spotrac. I'm sure other teams have ways to create extra cap as well but if we did release Johnson we'd move up to 8th in cap space.

No matter if we release or restructure Johnson his cap is going down this year. We only need a few players to improve our team this year and with 30 Mill will cover that.

Not saying it will or should happen but would anyone be ok with using the extra cap space to sign Von Miller once he gets franchise tagged. We would have to pay him 100+ million and give up 2 firsts but he is a fantastic pass rusher and I'm sure Ron and McDermot would use him to his fullest potential. We would have to cut CJ and Allen, and put off KK and Star extensions for one more year but we'd be able to tag Norman and sign rookies at least.
