These ninjas have trained themselves to hide their heartbeat. DD normally tracks people through that. In one episode Elektra tells him to track their swords because they aren't using their heartbeats. Then later in the season they stop using their swords because they know DD is tracking them through that so Stick tells him to track them in the rare times they have to breathe. Seems pretty consistent to me. Idk why people who know they are watching a tv show which is inherently fake get turned off by shows because "they aren't real enough" that's more of a problem with the viewer and unreal expectations than a show.

Show was great. My advice would be to lighten up on your expectations and enjoy the quality show for what it is.

Let me be really clear in this.  I don't care about how real it is.  I care that the rules don't change to fit the whims of the writers.  I care that once the writers set an expectation, in this case that a blind man can effectively see, that they don't disregard that reality when it suits them.

So they are hiding their heartbeats, what about the idea that even before he had been trained Matt was able to sense a womans slightly elevated body temp? Or as I tried to point out that he is perfectly adept at tracking things, both stationary and moving, that are inanimate.  Billiard balls, arrows, dumpsters, glasses on tables, etc are all things Matt effortlessly tracks and interacts with. In one episode he catches an arrow that was shot by a ninja from behind him again demonstrating that whether or not it has a heartbeat he can track an object with the kind of precision that it take to catch an arrow.

I am perfectly willing to accept all of this as the reality of the imaginary world where DD roams the streets of NY.  Ive got no more problem suspending disbelief for this show than I do for a movie that takes place a long time ago in a galaxy far away.  What I have a big problem with is when they arbitrarily change his powers as a plot device.

If the ninja's are hiding behind objects, and have lowered their heartbeats/temps, etc, it would be pretty hard for him to signal them out.   If they then attack all at once he would struggle to react to ALL of them, but still did decent.   Remember these ninja's were trained as well or better than Daredevil, they just don't have all his abilities because of the ooze.

But they didn't. These ninjas control there bodies so Matt can't track them regularly, it's why nobu beat his ass in the first season. They've been consistent

Okay follow me here.

Lets say that the ninjas can match the body temps to the surrounding air, they can completely suppress the sound of their hearts and breathe in a manner that is completely undetectable.  They have perfected stealth.  They are no more than rocks.

DD could still "see" them the same way he "sees" the balls on a pool table in Josie's to make a combination shot that most people who don't play pool competitively would have trouble making.  Or in the same way he "sees" a dumpster in an ally.  Or the same way he "sees" any of the thousands of objects that we see him interact with.

The fact that these ninjas are special trained to cloak themselves means only that to DD they would appear to be any of the other inanimate objects he senses and while that may work if they simply stand there (DD might think them statues) once they began to move they would hold no advantage.

And in season 1 as soon as Nobu moved out of his hiding space DD they have a conversation and Nobu makes a considerable amount of noise during the fight so it isn't that DD couldn't track him.  Its that Nobu got the best of him.

Just so you don't have to go looking for it...

The dumpsters and pool balls are different than humans. He can hear the sound vibrating off of these objects but humans who can effectively cloak themselves are different stories. If you don't like the show then don't watch I'm not going to convince you to do anything, but the show has been very consistent with its rules and if that's lost on you its more of a personal problem then anything the writers have done. Good day
