"At his locker on Tuesday in Charlotte, Newton said he has no regrets about the meeting, per Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer. He also quoted legendary Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi -- the namesake of the trophy he failed to capture -- to explain his demeanor after the Broncos throttled the Panthers 24-10.

"I've been on record to say I'm a sore loser," Newton said. "Who likes to lose? You show me a good loser and I'm going to show you a loser." "

Had no idea Lombardi said that first...

Love it. Some many people made ignorant statements without looking into the fact that it may already be a quote.

they hate it because Cam said it, but they have noidea that one of the most respected and successful coaches in the history of sports said it first.

I thought it would be even more interesting if he didn't know it was something Lombardi had said.

did you know "second place is the first loser" was kinda A spin on a European drivers quote, can't find it right now but I will.

I don't mean to inflame anyone as I know how passionately we all view the presser situation but here is a different view.

The Panthers PR Dept and management have done a bad job with Newton related to dealing with the media.

it isn't about being a bad loser it is about being an adult in communication and obligations.  It comes with the territory of representing a franchise

The  PR Dept and the coach,,could have:   given him a hr to prepare himself for having to face the press, could have come out with him and said 'limiting to 10 questions' or just had him say, 'I can only answer a few questions now and congratulations to the Broncos'. That's it

They  did not prepare him and left him alone out on an island and that was a mistake.  His body language dismissive   He can do better  and needs to be advised to do better  it comes with 110 million dollars and being the new face of the NFL

Cam cannot have it both ways, seeking the camera and the spotlight when things are going well and then feeling put upon and striking out at people who had nothing to do with his performance but bought into the hype.

Cam can be very special not just on the football field but  he needs a little help in presentation  not a big deal but the Panthers do him no favors by not giving it to him

it isn't the first time   They need to step up now or some of the fan base is going to grow very tired  of the show.  Wearing a shirt that says 'I win my way'  really  the issue isn't with how you win Cam and I believe a team wins, not one player

Of course while all the focus is on Newton's presser, no one asked ole Ron about that abysmal offensive game plan and btw Ron, saying 'I wish Cam had handled the presser differently' after the fact is a little too late.

bad losers are still losers, too. the quote didn't make any sense when Lombardi first said it, and it doesn't make any sense now.

How doesn't that quote make any sense????? Winners lose as well as "losers" but the losing mentality that is being refrenced in the quote breeds losing. While someone who has experienced failure can work to become great or a "winner." It's the same thing Cam was talking about when he first got here. A lot of people were content with the "there's always next time" attitude. This quote is in refrence to that.

A friend ( a Packers fan BTW) was indirectly slamming Cam for being a sore loser on FB and posting pictures of people being good losers until I posted the Lombardi quote on his timeline- funny how the good loser posts stopped w/o comment...

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
