Peyton Manning's Sexual Assault Case

Old news maybe, but there were still lots of people that had not heard anything about this. Not to mention I'm pretty sure it was not a weeks long firestorm. And it has to do more with the fact that these stories never stuck to Peyton Manning. Why not? Athletes do much less than what he was accused of and you hear about it years later.

I like the fact that it has come back up because I'm hoping it gets a message across to higher than thou white people.

As a white person that was dead set against drafting Cam for the sacred position of QB, I will admit that his presence and success has taught me a lot about racism in society!

Hear, hear

I would like to elaborate on this issue a little more.

The problem is on both sides. People of every race, creed, sex, etc., need to do a bit of self questioning in regards to perception and expectation.

Fortunately, being in a position to play societal lawyer for Cam on the lowest of levels has been an eye opening experience

I'm not a Payton Manning fan like many others are but at the same time I don't have anything against him. He's just a football player to me.

That being said, if you think it's in poor taste to bring up something stupid that somebody did when they were young and dumb in college when it's your guy Newton but then do the same thing to somebody else and want to cause outrage you are just doing it out of spite. If you think something is wrong don't do it in reverse just to try to equal things out.

The cover up was far more insidious than the crime.  I knew of the assault but did not know the lengths to which the good ole boys went to cover up the crime and whitewash Peyton's reputation (read the Shaun King article).

Absolutely shameful.  And the media simultaneously holds Peyton up as the golden standard for behavior while denouncing Cam for having the gall to show his emotions.  Incredible.
