1. Cam should have jumped on the ball. 2. Cam shouldn't have walked out postgame. 3. Saying that doesn't make you a hater.

Cam should have jumped on the ball, but he took one large stride too many to be able to do that safely. He thought he could reach down and pick it up and was mistaken.

Anyone with two eyes can see this. I don't understand how it is even still being discussed.

That's exactly my read on what happened. He went after the ball trying to pick it up wanting to make a play out of it, but the Broncos got there more quickly than he thought they would and he was not in a position to fall on it without putting himself in a seriously compromising position. He got too aggressive and wanted to make a hero play which was a mistake. He should have set out to jump on the ball from the start, but I'm not going to fault him for trying to make a winning play in the heat of the moment where nothing was going right.

Cam got us here...

I'm not going to nitpick a HD slow mo replay of a play and bash him for what he should of done.  Things are happening quick.  What he has done with his body and the sacrifices he is willing to make....he has earned that.  Bottom line.

I don't think the issue with Cam is a sportsmanship issue  Yeah, he sucks at losing but he man's up to the people he is suppose to man up to.  Media has reached insane levels.  Eventually, players will have to start pushing back at the absurdity.  I think we are seeing that some now.

you know what's worse than making anything less than a deangelo williams nuthugging thread 5 years ago?

making anything less than a cam newton nuthugging thread now.

good luck.

You've always tended to not much care for Newton. Why should anything be any different now?

That's literally all I said.

I think with the way things have gone over with the national media, there comes the assumption that you are implying that he didn't want the ball enough.  Which I'm not saying you are, it's just going to be hard to discuss.

I don't understand. Why do people keep saying he was trying to make a play when he explicitly said in his interview that he didn't want to contort his leg and talked about how people don't blame QBs when they don't chase INTs? Did I miss something?

Rabble rabble rabble.   Tired of all you asshats calling us haters because we diddle ourselves while listening to Cam hate on the radio.    The more evil poo  that is said about Cam,   the more we love it.    Now  stop trying to defend Cam and let the wave of hate wash over you.  mmmmmm.

Cam is the fiercest competitor on the team as far as I know. You don't get THAT pained where it looks like you're ready to commit suicide after the game if you don't want to win as much as humanly possible. Yes, anyone that thinks he didn't want the ball enough is a fool.

1. Of course Cam should've jumped on the ball. That doesn't mean that he should be criticized like he has been for not doing it. And just because something should be done doesn't mean it CAN be done. Jeremy and Cam's explanations made it seem like Cam couldn't really do it the way the ball was positioned because he didn't know how. The criticism for that is over the top and ridiculous.

2. I agree that it would've been a better look for the fans and media to answer all the questions and leave after time was up but once again... The criticism for it is over the top and ridiculous. Cam is who he is and he left a media session after a big loss. Who the hell cares? People are trying to make him out to be some immature crybaby which is ridiculous.

3. This thread is stupid.

People are calling you out because you poo posted relentlessly about this all over the other threads about it, yet felt the need to rehash it all over again in a new thread. We get it, you have shitty opinions, bump one of the other threads if you feel like getting berated again for saying stupid poo.

Because we have two eyes and we see a rather large QB wearing the No. 1 on the ground fighting for the ball? He explicitly explained why he hesitated---

But last I checked, Newton did (after he made sure it was less likely he would sustain an injury) was on the ground.

Now, should Newton have hesitated? Absolutely not. It is the damn SB. Go for the ball at all costs...but it is wholly incorrect to say he didn't try to make a play.

just because i don't share the same borderline psychotic admiration that some people do for a single player, doesn't mean i don't care much for that player.

although i will admit, i've never liked deangelo williams...

I posted it in its own thread because it's getting ridiculous. Bill Voth, that guy getting called a white cracker....people have collectively lost their minds with hate at media people saying negative things about Cam. It's gone off the deep end. Cam can handle it, people need to calm down.

1. Cam did jump at the ball, anything else said is irrelevant and trying to complain about it makes you a hater.

2. Cam fulfilled his obligation, he was done wrong by having the opposing team right beside him loudly bragging about how they were game planning him specifically. They expected him to talk to the media while having the opponent right beside him talking about him. He had every right to walk out once he answered the first few questions, he handled it exactly how he should: removed himself from a potential emotional conflict. He was a good sport when it mattered: when it came time to congratulate his opponent, which is more than some other QBs that played in that game could say in the past.  Saying Cam handled the interview poorly either makes you a hater, or ignorant.  Or an ignorant hater.
