To everyone wanting/expecting the Panthers to draft a QB

Still don't think The Golden Calf of Bristol will make it in the NFL.

I do. The guy just wins games. He's got to be the best leader I have ever seen. Didn't he go on a mission trip after high school? The Golden Calf of Bristol is exactly the type of person I want leading my team. And oh yeah he's tough as nails built like a FB and can throw the ball very well.

Are any of those good pro candidates Spike?

Of the four, Juice, Pike, LeFevour, and Hiller would be very good choices. Juice has a big arm and great mobility, he could be a Donovan McNabb or a Michael Vick, thats the risk you take.

Pike and Hiller both have good arms and NFL QB size. Pike has been nails since taking over as Cincinnati's QB, leading them to their first BCS game.

LeFevour is the safest pick. Very good arm, NFL size, mobility, and a track record as a good fundamental QB. If he drops past the 2nd round I would be shocked, its very possibly he is a 1st round pick.

LMAO, sure his history shows that he doesn't want to burn a high draft pick on QB......

You bet that much at the position and the 22 yr. old kid doesn't pan out like harrington you lose your job quickly. You put your job on the line for a 22 yr. QB? You are GM making millions/yr and coach making millions/yr. First round QB's are the fastest way to lose a job. Easier to hide other postions that bust....how do you think Hurney and Fox have kept their gigs this long?

QB is so easily tied to the decision making skills up and down and the most scrutinized position. If you don't have the bank tied up on it it's not as intensified.

Remember these guys, Fox and Hurney, have been able to keep their high salaries for several years now on the same doll. They know what works and how to keep a job. They're smart.

so they would rather field inconsistent teams and struggle every other year rather than put the chips out and try to make something happen. Where's the poise?

Part of a HC's job is to make some moves, take some risks. The best ones know which risks to take and play the draft like a chess game. If their no.1 priority was to keep a steady job, Hurney should've stayed as a beat writer for the Skins and Fox should've kept coordinating defense, both jobs which require less critical thinking.

The goal is to build a contending team, and if you're afraid to make a move, you don't belong where you are.

but of course I realize the standards here are lower than most cities/states, and they can get away with the poo that they would be kicked out the door for elsewhere.

Raging Bull stage yourself out around 40 yrs. old and think about things.....

think real dollars. Think real big paying jobs. You are a GM or a coach.

You are scrutinized quickly off a first round Qb that talk show hosts and national talking heads can easily name roll call off and criticize your pick. when you bet the 1st rounder on a QB that doesn't pan out it's painfully evident from day one.

But you're a middle aged guy who likes the million dollar paychecks coming. Do you keep your job more long term without that drama of a 1st rd. QB that more times than not doesn't pan out? Every year you keep your job you bankroll. You create wealth. You can build up your resume by staying in the league another year. You can stay mediocre and keep a job. You didn't fail with a 1-15. You kept 7-9 and another chance. And each year you stay you make millions. You fail miserably with a hard losing season your career is attached to that miserable season. Stay better than 6-10 and you keep ur resume up. In this league you only need to stay close or winning and hope. Hurney and Fox have big houses and long term salaries for a fact.

Who wins? They keep their high paying jobs and preserve their reputation for their millions. While it hasn't produced championships it has created enough positivity that they are still in charge through all these years.

who's the dumbass. In this league you only need to stay close or winning and hope. Hurney and Fox have big houses and long term salaries for a fact.

yes they have big houses and long term salaries for a fact, and that's because they walked in an organization with one of the lowest expectations in the league and an easy to please fanbase.
