To everyone wanting/expecting the Panthers to draft a QB

Dont bet on it. Despite Panthers fans asking for years to draft a young QB to groom for the future, those pleas have gone unheeded.

Of the 54 picks in the NFL draft in the John Fox era, one...exactly one...has been a QB. That speaks volumes. Whether they dont want to spend $, hate the idea of grooming a young QB, or simply put no thought whatsoever into the future of the position, they have a proven track record of doing everything in their power to not draft a QB.

Actually two.

(Fasani, LeFors)

Although one of them was related to Delhomme LOL

I've pretty much come to terms with the fact that Fox does not know how to develop a QB, which puts a nice shitty ceiling on our potential as long as he's here in the long run, so he doesn't bother to spend the money and would rather acquire more linebackers.

Whoops. I started out with 2003. So its actually 2 QBs drafted in 63 picks in the John Fox era.

I say we take our medicine, trade whoever we have to, get back into upper half of first round and take a QB.

They should've taken Flaco over Stewart or Otah, we'd be set. Of course Flaco may not be as good since he would've been benched all last yr and learning from delhomme.

There is no point in begging for something that should have been done his first year.

John Fox doesn't believe in drafting QBs early, apparently he also doesn't believe in back to back winning seasons.

    • 2022 was not a good year for QBs.
    • I think they are holding back to see what they have in the young guys, but I think it's a near certainty at some point they will bring someone else in. Right now (assuming we keep 5 CBs which is normal), the top 5 IMO are: 1) Jaycee Horn 2) Mike Jackson 3) Chau Smith-Wade 4) Shemar Bartholomew  5) Akayleb Evans   Obviously Jaycee is the alpha in that room and paid as such. Need him to stay healthy and continue to play at a Pro-Bowl level. Mike Jack did pretty well all things considered last year, and they gave him lower-level starter money. Fair deal for both sides.  Smith-Wade showed some promise as a slot CB. I think low-key he's a lock for the team. Different size and skill set than the other CBs. Shemar Bartholomew was the most sought after waiver claim last preseason. Was 5th CB most and inactive most of last year. Had a few defensive and ST snaps. Nothing of note good or bad but too small a sample size to make any judgment. Akayleb Evans was a 2022 4th Rounder for the Vikings. Has started 19 games (including Week 18 for the Panthers) in his career and played in 43. Was pretty good in 2023 before getting injured and falling down the depth chart last year. There's some other guys on the outside looking in, but until they show more in training camp I dont see anyway they make the 53. And only Jaycee, Mike Jack, and Smith-Wade are locks to make this roster IMO.
