Bill Voth: "Panthers Are Allowing Cam To Look Like A Baby."

The Huddle has become infested with Cam cultists. Not one of you have said anything negative about Voth all year until he said something negative about Cam.

Cam messed up and isn't perfect. Saying that doesn't make you a hater. No player should be immune to criticism, this board has become a laughingstock over the past 72 hours.

Bill Voth does know football continues in about 4-5 months right? 2016 season will happen. 2015 was an amazing season. Panthers fans and writers all had fun, but its not over. Talk about burning bridges.

He basically just trashed Cam and this organization. Team shouldn't give him access.

Haven't read the whole thread but has anyone suggested that these hacks be heckled anytime you see them?  Say at training camp for instance?  If I were there and saw this turd I would heckle his ass until he lost his mind and snapped.  See how he mans up then!  Prick.

Voth also seems pissed that the Panthers organization didn't throw Cam under the bus.

I'm glad they had and continue to have Cam's back.

Exactly, I mentioned this yesterday. It makes this even angrier at the fact that the organization is behind him 100%. It makes them angry that his teammates are behind him. They want to make like Cam is a cancer or something in the lockerroom. He hates to lose so much that he does what he can to win. But we all saw this coming. The only thing they had to complain about all season was his dancing. They waited on this moment. I hope Cam continues to stand on his word and I hope the team continues to have his back. It would be lovely if he came out and just said "fvck all of you!!" Maybe that's what they want to hear LOL. He said it nicely yesterday but maybe they need him to be raw. I will say that as an independent journalist, this guy can burn his bridges quicker than someone from the CO. He needs to stop and think about it.

I just don't understand after an amazing year and being heavily favorites, the Panthers just lost the SB and you'll still harping on this. Move on. How about write about the amazing moments, the good times of the season you remember. Someone correct me, I don't see those articles any where.

Agreed.

I always wanted Cam to curse the media out, but it's not worth it.

He told them off yesterday and I loved every bit of it.

You're seeing a lot of blossoming resentment from fans of teams who sincerely hoped their team would field the next face of the league who dominated the game for the next 10+ years. A lot of that resentment is is more obviously manifested not only form the contingent of people who hoped Cam would fail, but from fans of teams who, quite frankly, haven't been anything approaching relevancy in a long time.

The fact that it's "us"-the Panthers who are doing it when we aren't supposed to, that we have an attitude like this that will solidify our role near the top of the league for a long time-it bothers people. Voth, as a life-long Browns fan-fits perfectly into that contingent. Manziel isn't the new face of the league. Their organization has made some terrible decisions, and the Panthers have a swagger about them that Cleveland, nor any other team, possess. If you look around on some messagre boards and comments elsewhere, you'll see a growing frustration at the Panther's battle cry: Keep Pounding. "Why do the Panthers have that strong motto? Shouldn't my favorite team? Or at leat the Steelers? Or Patriots?" Why are the Panthers the team that refuses to accept losing.

The ultimate reality, though, is that their opinions are meaningless, just like Voth's. The Panthers, led by their QB-ARE the team that refuses to accept failure-and they are going to be good for a very long time because of it. Voth, and the fans of those teams who cry about it, are simply going to have to deal how to cope with it. In essence, "Deal with it."

He's just saying the same crap as everyone else.  Trying to act like he has a right to tell another grown man how to act just because he's in the media.  I'm so tired of people saying how Cam should act, everyone in life reacts differently to different things.  He lost the Superbowl.  I wonder if Voth had a chance at the biggest job promotion in his life, then loses out, and when walking out the door of the boss he has to give a press conference to the world RIGHT THEN.   It's stupid.  Players should have 24 hours or so to talk and even then, how dare he act like he has a right over Cam's behavior or feelings.  We don't own these players.   People somethings think they do and/or try to live through them.

Agree, 100% I love Cam and could give two shits what anyone says. Guess I'm lucky, I haven't watched TV since the Super Bowl and don't have social media other than Teh Huddle.

Seems like the OP posts about 2 things: Love/Hate for Cam and race. Jeez give it a break already.

Voth has done an outstanding job this season. People have their own opinion even if we don't agree with it. Who gives a $hit, be happy.

Jonathan Jones wrote a great critical piece about Cam without calling him a baby, or saying he needs "man up". Most of us I would think are mad at Bill because he's using phrasing and language and making "points" that paint himself as a sellout who cares more about what drives the needle than what he has to say. It's bombastic. It's Skip Bayless.

And I get what Jeremy is saying about paying your way out there and getting pissed because of that, but he's being straight up unprofessional if that is the cause of this. He's no longer a journalist at that point, just a dude with a soapbox.

Also, it's hilarious that Bill is positioning himself on the wrong end of this right as the media narrative of the event as a whole is beginning to shift. Soon one of the only press guys who has an issue with it will be the man who depends on friends within the team for his job.

Nice one, Bill.

It's important to note that Bill and other beat writers aren't doing this work out of the goodness of their hearts, as Jeremy said. Content and quotes from players are putting food on the table for his family, so Cam's early exit from the press conference has affected him in a way that it doesn't affect us. I get that.

It still doesn't mean he has to resort to name-calling. It's easy for reporters to take this sort of thing personally, but take a step back for a minute. Find a story elsewhere, decode...do something. This reaction is a bad look for Bill, too.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
