Bill Voth: "Panthers Are Allowing Cam To Look Like A Baby."

Voth took it too far, he made it personal. Crying foul now only makes him look like the one who truly needs to "man up".

If he decides to correct himself on his comments, that would be probaby go a long way. He could easily have simply said he wished that Newton had handled it differently without all the other jabs about the guy as a man included. That is unprofessional. Period.

Utterly unprofessional.

And when people say things in that manner, that is more likely to be their TRUE feeling on the matter and not the subsequent back-tracking when they realize that they've eff'ed up.  The "gosh, maybe I was unfair" is just an attempt at distraction, like when a magician waves his hand crazily in the air to catch your eyes attention while he's making the coin disappear into his pocket.

First, I love BBR, and while I'm not totally surprised that Voth would express a differing opinion I am surprised that his lash out was so severe.  I get it, Bill, Cam didn't perform well on the field, or off of it.  Your door was open.  Take the opportunity to kick him while he's down because you won't get many more.  I can appreciate your analysis normally, but for you to be posting those things from a site or handle that clearly is meant to represent Carolina is different.  The guy literally came forward and admitted to being a sore loser.  You honestly think you'd handle a loss like that easily?

It's really shocking how it has taken this long for people to realize how awful the Panthers media is. The trio of Person, Jones, and Voth is as awful of a group of reporters that any sports team could have. If they worked in the NY market they would be covering the Islanders or the Nets. It really is unfortunate for Panthers fans that this is what they are stuck with.

Voth had the right idea. He saw what a steaming pile of garbage the Observer is and started his own outlet. It started off great as he was trying to get a following, but it didn't take long for him to show his true colors. The guy is a whinner and spends such an effort on Twitter trying to shut down fan accounts that no one cares about. He is extremely sensitive. I also have never seen a guy take one interview like the one he had with Gettleman and stretch it out to a week process. He literally put pieces of one interview out over a 5 day span.

In most markets getting an interview with a GM is called doing your job. Voth made this huge production out of one interview. The guy also hadn't said one bad word about Cam all year. He finally gets his shot on the national stage and sells out. Even after the Super Bowl you didn't see him refer to cam as a baby. He then gets called out on twitter and complains he is being treated unfairly and what he said was being misinterpreted. I listened to the entire interview and it was quite clear what he was saying.

Person, Jones, and Voth are just a disaster of a trio.

I'm curious as to how exactly we are "misinformed." Is it because we did not comprehend such adult terminology such as "baby" or "man up," according to Voth? Is it because we question the integrity of a journalist who basically throws a media temper tantrum over what he perceived to be a temper tantrum by Cam?

I'm curious... also, 98%? Really?? Arbitrarily throwing out percentages reminds me of that old cliche about statistics: 73.2% of 90% of statistics are made up on the spot. Drama much Bill?

What annoys me most about this is that in the immediate aftermath when people were tweeting him about it, he didn't backtrack one bit. The first place I looked when I saw this was to see if anyone had approached him on twitter about it. He told people they needed to listen to the whole interview, the equivalent of "I was taken out of context." (The same phrase countless athletes have used only to be mocked by journalists and fans.) Only twenty huddle pages later is he saying, 'I probably shouldn't have called him a baby, shouldn't have told him to man up, and I shouldn't have said anything about the organization, I appreciate the people who are having reasonable conversations about this.'

He certainly doesn't have to change his approach one bit to suit me. But the great thing about this is I can get Panthers news from any number of sources (local or national), and more often lately it's directly from the athlete himself or the team.

I didn't even realIze he tweeted that. He so sensitive it is incredible. He got his shot on the national stage and said what he said. He wasn't misquoted or interpreted wrong. He called Cam a baby and said the franchise was enabling him. If that is his opinion, then fine (even though it's a garbage opinion). Just don't back track and say you are being treated unfairly. Own your comments and be consistent. Don't feed us BS with your blog and then go off on a national stage and say another thing.

Um it looks like you gave it a second thought because you are here trying to defend it.

If you don't think the guy is mentally tough after witnessing all that he has endured the last 5 years, you can go root for another team as far as I'm concerned, because that is the biggest crock of poo I've ever read here.

I'm not defending anything, I'm explaining a position you're too self righteousness to see. I'm trying to draw it in crayon for you. Unless the Panthers result to cheating then there are no other teams as far as I'm concerned.

Cry to someone else, Cam doesn't need you on your knees trying to "defend" him.

i'm curious about that "misinformed" part as well. and if we are misinformed, then maybe the problem is the one feeding us the information (or the information spun the way he wants it to be spun)?

but seriously, what is it that we are misinformed about?

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
