We need a DE... so whom?

If things get ugly with JNo (hope not), in the unwanted sign and trade scenario (Raiders as always), I'd take nothing less than a 1st and parlay that with ours to get into the top 5 to get Joey Bosa.  Then sign Trumaine Johnson and Prince Amukamara in FA at CB.

Revis garnered #13 overall in 2013.  JNo would surely garner #14 overall (Raiders) in such a scenario.

I'm pretty sure Alexander alluded to the fact that he was given one more chance before this last time.  I mentioned this in another thread, but how about Quinton Coples as a young cheap option.

Coples signed with the dolphins this season iirc , don't know how long his contract is for

When he came out of UNC however I was realllllly wary of him. He's an athletic beast but he seems to get lost during games and you won't hear from him.

All that being said- if he's a free agent I wouldn't mind taking a look at him.

I think Vernon is the only possible answer in FA (Hardy would be by far the best option, but as long as Jerry owns this team it ain't happening).  If Vernon would come on a reasonable deal ($10mil p/y or less) he could be our one big FA signing.  I have a feeling he'll get significantly more than that somewhere else though.

Any idea's??  I'd say Mario Williams, but his salary is 11 millon plus. Only five sacks last year in a system that didn't fit.  He is 31 an played at NC State. He could turn it around here. Don't see D.G paying that kind of jack though. Can't wait for a draft pick to develop. What options in FA do we have?

Vernon would be the home run signing.  No doubt in my mind DG would pay his asking price money wise, I just don't know if he'd be willing to go the 5 years or so he probably wants. With so many of our own guys to pay in the next couple of years, the cap is still something we'll have to worry with, to the dismay of many.

That's great and all but no rookie is gonna start and be consistent in our system unless he's Peppers 2.0 or Watt 2.0. We need a starter. Plain and simple.

Most people over look this because of lack of football knowledge. DE, CB, QB, C, TE, are not plug and play. We need outside pass rush we can do two things. Pay a top guy or gamble on a guy like Hardy like the Cowboys did. I prefer pay the guy.

Back to football...Dolphins source tells me team will definitely waive Quinton Coples before open of new league year in March. Saves $7.75M

I'm all in on drafting Emmanuel Ogbah. A large majority of mocks at this point have him available when we are picking at 30 and to me he is a top 20 pick so if we can grab him there I will be over the moon. Kony at LDE, Ogbah at RDE, Addison and Delaire + vet signing(Robert Ayers, William Hayes, Derrick Shelby) as rotational guys and I think we would be set at the position for at least two years when Kony and Addison's deals expire.

We have the most connection with JPP (Gettleman connection) and Coples (back-up draft choice for Luke). I could see either of those guys, though our intent was to turn Coples into a DT, so maybe that's null.

Hurney was also the guy in charge during that draft and Coples did not transition well to being a 3-4 DE so I doubt he would have handled the 4-3 DT transition well.
