If Cam Newton wasn't a Panther...

I've always said I love Cam, but if he was on any other team I would have (old) Kaepernick type of hate towards him.

When you're really good, even more so kinda cocky about it, you have a lot of haters.

ive noticed a lot of articles or sport shows on the Super Bowl downing Cam all to hell, not uplifting the Broncos. Nfl.com with "Not So Super Cam, How Cam Self Destructed" another: "Cam tapped out" and a paper is saw this morning said "MVD, how Cam fell to the Denver D". God if people don't shut up about him not diving on that fumble or being pissed at an interview. Yea, goody boy Russell shouldered the loss last year, and he threw the game winning pick so he should have.

Haters just hate I guess.

Not at all. I'd still appreciate his personality.  Plenty of other characters in the NFL I like. I like Lynch's personality and unwillingness to sing and dance like they want him to.   I liked Randy Moss' antics. LOVED Brett Favre's personality and love of the game.  So I absolutely would like him still.

I think that the real challenge is to keep it all in perspective.  There are lots of dynamics in play here. I feel that people have blown sports and athletes in general way out of proportion, much like they have done with many other aspects of society and culture.

One thing I'd like to say is that being a sore loser on its head doesn't make you a bad person. Being a "good loser" doesn't necessarily make you a "loser" in it's most negative connotation. People's values are warped and jaded because they fail to "check" themselves and keep all of this stuff in perspective.

I think that you have to distinguish between the person and the player, regardless of the team. Sure I hate when Brees is killing us on the field, but I don't dislike Brees.

lol Then there's people/players like Romanowski which makes it difficult to distinguish anything.

As Panthers fans, we love our qb. We defend his on field antics, we defend him when he walks out during pressers, we love the guy no matter what.

So my question is this; Cam Newton is wearing a Falcons jersey, he comes to BOA and does his usual celebrating... are you still ok with this or do you join the media and other fans in condemning it?

Since he was an Auburn Tiger before that, my answer to you is 100% yes!

(Now please do not reword this to make Cam a University of Alabama QB because I don't want to have to hunt you down. :P )

I wouldn't dislike him any more than I dislike Matt Ryan. I would judge his game and not his personality like every other non Carolina QB.

So...actually I might like him a little until he played the Panthers.

But honestly that isn't a fair question. I wouldn't know him like I know him now. I wouldn't know how hard he works to be great. I wouldn't know how much his team mates love him. I wouldn't know everything he does outside of football for children and others that need a little help. I would only know what ESPN and NFL Network decides to feed me. For that reason, I only judge players by their game. I'm old enough to know that the media almost always has an agenda.

Sure, but lets put this into perspective. What if Talib was a Panther? Would we have accepted that he intentionally tried to hurt another player? I might not have liked Cam in another uniform, but I would still respect him. Not so much with other players.

No, if Talib was a Panther and did some crap like that, I'd want him gone. No room in this game or life in general for that crap. He's just not a good human being. He doesn't care, which is scary, because he's bound to try some crap like that again.

Romanowski is a weird cat. I don't like him, and never have. I can't support players that go out of their way to hurt people. I don't like Rodney Harrison for his stance on the issue, and I don't like Talib for trying to rip Brown's head off and admitting it. Playing hard is a part of the game, but physically hurting people just for the enjoyment is psychotic.

Oh, yeah, Beckham can go to hell to.

If he were in ATL I would hate him regardless. But if he were on the Chargers or someone I don't really care about- up in Detroit for instance- I wouldn't have a single problem with him doing what he does.

If Stafford, Rivers or Bridgewater feels more comfortable now that Cam has taken the proverbial 'celebration flag' and ran with it and they starts to celebrate more- good for them. Show your true emotions and colors!
