Positions we need to upgrade

I  would agree on an upgrade to the RB position but do you think CAP or Wegher might be that guy?  Cap barely got any touches and Wegher got none >

Personally I dont. Primarily because we need another power back.  Don't necessarily think we need to draft one. I'd rather look in FA.   I put our n÷da in this order. RT,  WR, DE, CB, LB, S, RB, TE.

In the draft we need to focus on CB, DE,  and LB.  In free agency I'm splurging on my Oline, WR. RB, and S.  We can draft the rest.

New to the board but a long time Panther fan. The positions that need upgrading:

RB-Lamar Miller

T-Mitchell Schwartz

CB-Trumaine Johnson

Miller was underutilized by Miami and they drafted Ajayai. He has the breakaway speed at the RB position we need.

Schwartz is a highly rated pass blocking tackle...see the SB for the reason we need him

Johnson is a big CB in the mold of what Gettleman likes

Curious why you're prioritizing LBs in the draft?  That would seem to be the position where we are least needy:

Luke, TD, Shaq, AJ, Mayo, Jacobs.   All of those will be coming back (unless we were to trade AJ so he can start somewhere....?)   All are solid.  2 are certified elite talent, and 1 looking like he will be....

Now of course, I know Gettleman will go with BPA.  If that's a LB, so be it.  But given that we  took 2 last year, I'm not expecting that to be a position we focus on in this year's draft.

It's because Thompson is going to eventually replace TD. If TD gets hurt our LBS outside of Kuechly aren't enough. I don't think we should spend our first pick on one.

DE, Kony Ealy is one the other isn't something you draft unless he is top 5 or 10.  Otherwise you are going to have to let him develop so FA or one of the ones we have now.  Maybe re-sign Allen for the other side.

OT - Oher is fine.... Remmer has done well be obviously we could upgrade at that position.  Nothing bad against him but there are better.  I think this is the position where we might actually make our biggest splash in Free Agency and the draft.  Main thing is.  They gotta fit our system.   Miller and Ware showed we need to get quicker on the outside.

CB - Gonna Tag Norman, Peanut I would like to see come back hopefully the knee doesn't hinder his speed but very well could.  I would like us to keep Finnegan.  I think he can revitalize his career here.  Still might have year or two in the Tank.  Definitely if the BPA is a CB we take him.

RB - I could see a Free Agent.  We already have CAP and Wegher and unless Stewart comes off with a cap friendly extension I think we will depart with him.

S- Harper is on his last leg. Boston is probably ready to step but depth at Safety is always good.   Draft pick would be a great spot for this position.

WR I actually think we are set.  KB will be back, Funchess should be ready to step up.  Ginn will be even better, Brown is solid....  The darkhorse is Hill.  From an article I read in midseason.  Hill was really progressing.   His speed and height can really make him a player to watch.  I honestly don't think we will grab one early in the draft.  Late day two or day three only.   Of course UDFA.

Don't think any contract decision NEEDS to be made about Stew.  He's not a free agent this year.  He signed a 5 year contract in 2012, so unless I'm misunderstanding things, the only reason any of us (including me) are even musing about him possibly being gone is due to injuries and his high cap hit relative to his value.   It's probably just worthless talk.  85%+ likelihood of Stew staying. I *think* we have the cap space where it shouldn't be an issue.

Point taken.  I like Stewart.  One thing we cannot overlook is he has been with Cam from the beginning.  He has the zone read hand off better than anyone.  It showed when he was out and CAP took over.  Fumble first game in.

I know this.. There will be one (at least) guy on the roster that is released that our initial reaction will be "Woah, didn't see that coming".. Gettleman is nothing but pragmatic when it comes to building a balanced team while keeping a long term view of a healthy cap in mind. I can't see him putting this team in cap jail for a short term benefit.

I'm not totally ready to move away from the awful feeling of Sunday, but I'm starting to look more to FA and the draft than I am replaying the game. Going to be a fun off season I think.

Not about releasing stew. It's about having another stud when he gets injured.

Young Tight End, Safety, CB, T, WR.

So agree about tight end.  Don't see that many people mention it.   I want to have someone Greg can mentor, similar to what we're doing with TD & Shaq.   Maybe Simonson is that guy.  I confess I've not really paid any attention to him.  But yes please to another young stud TE.
