I never go back and forth arguing on here, I must be taking the L harder than I thought.

I'm taking it harder than you'd think based on how optimistic I sound on here.

But when i say I believe we are well-positioned for the future, I'm not blowing smoke.  I genuinely believe it.

I'ma say this last thing, as a black man, if a white calls me "boy" while trying to correct, teach me a lesson, or put in my place, which is what Romanowski was doing.... we gonna have some problems.

Not saying he's a racist, but don't act like me having a problem with it is illogical or jumping to conclusions.

If you are acting like an immature asshat ..black, white or other..."boy"  should not come as a surprise...problems are problems that can always be solved...the 1st solution should not be to fight...which does follow a certain pattern.

If you want to check out meaning of WORDS in the PAST look up *** and how it changed...hate to admit Trump is right...but the PC bullcrap is killing this country...because the most offended about things like this, were not the people that endured the stupidity that is now continued in the name of being "offended"...not everyone sees thing in "black or white" so to speak...but, i have no problems with "problems"...just make sure it means what you "think" it means...

These racist ass white people couldn't wait to pounce on Cam.

FUG ALL YOU RACIST BASTARDS!!!

I was born and grew up in the Jim Crow South.

I was taught how to be a good lil racist.

All the proper words and actions were put at my disposal.

Yes, I grew up surrounded by racists and, as a young white kid, I was racist as fug.

But then... THEN... I had wonderful teachers in high school.

And I went to college and got educated.

Got an officer's commission in the Navy and traveled the world.

Damn what an adventure!

What I learned, over those many years from high school and thereafter, was that people were people.

And judging people by the color of their skin was just STUPID.

Then I had a son... and I knew that I had to raise him right.  I went to my old Dad and told him "Dad, that kind of poo ain't gonna happen around my son.  If you love your grandson... if you want to SEE your grandson... leave it be."

I wanted my son to grow up with a loving and accepting mind, an advantage I never was provided.

And he did.  And I like to think I have grown well past my upbringing, thanks to my education and world experience.

I *try* to do things right.  I *try* to understand.

And, with my past experience, I KNOW racists when I see them.  I speak their goddam language.  Been there, done that.

Keep trying to explain "reasons" racists.  We don't believe you.  We know you.  We speak your language.

And?  If you don't want to change?  To learn?  To educate yourself?  To grow?

Then fug you.

I actually made comments defending him thinking he was just a dumb POS who didn't know any better. I just saw an article in SI where his former teammates witnessed him using the n-word in private.

I see he deleted his tweet too.

Racist or not, when did we ever think Bill Romanowski deserved another crack at a public life? Steroid monster who took delight in hurting team mates and crippling people on the field. I mean real "laugh over the broken body" kind of monster.

He probably lives on a diet of HGH and BoTox shots. Don't pay him any mind or give him any attention or we'll end up with him as a "commentator" on the early, early, dang is anyone up yet, Sunday morning NFL broadcasts.

OK, to set it straight. Boy in terms of how he said it does SOUND racist. He wasnt saying home boy. The context of how he did say it sounded racist. Boy and ****** were very similar in context when speaking about a african american race during civil rights movement. I think the way he said it was very along those lines. He might as well replace it with ******. As a professional analyst, he needs to know better on how to say things. He very well might not have meant it that way but the way it sounds is very derogatory.

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
