Mike Shula: "Cam wasn't good enough". Probably because you called a horrible game, Shula.

let's start every offensive drive with Mike Tolbert up the gut for 0 yards! - Mike Shula

What the f*ck is up the middle..there where no holes..I mean just garbage plays called..Our offensive line wasn't opening up holes for Stewart or Fozzy to run through..

Jesus..If I wake up tomorrow and find out Shula is gone the Panthers become winners..

When the poo got bad Shula went right back to what he has always been, predictable and unmoving. I was sitting with people who didn't know much about the Panthers and even they were making comments about how we were doing the same thing over and over. It was flat out hard to watch. I know the offense was amazing this year, but i believe that was more Cam than Shula. This was a flat out ass whooping and it starts with the OC. I saw enough tonight to believe Shula needs to go. I believe we saw Shula panic tonight after the first half, and his inability to change ruined an epic performance by the D. If Carolina is going to try and effectively build a dynasty, Shula isn't the long term solution.

Let me ask you this...do you honestly in your heart of hearts believe that we had more talent on our offense than they did on their defense.  Because if you do we are at a severe disconnect and there's no rational way to have this disagreement.

LOL, hell no.  Man, you know how i feel about our supporting cast.  But, Denver proved scheme can do wonders for disguising deficiencies.  Our primary problem was their pass rush, first and foremost.  We did nothing to slow it down, aside from occasionally keeping an extra blocker or two, but imo, because of our talent deficiencies on the outside, you have to combat that rush by getting the ball out quick to guys you typically dont look to - Fozzy, Dickson, etc, instead of keeping them into block.

I'm not taking anything away from Denver's defense, but Talib is overhyped garbage....  we're all familiar with him from his time in TB.  And Harris was a fuging UDFA.  They aren't world beaters...  in fact, Talib was getting abused by Philly early, but then Denver just decided to pressure Cam instead of sit back and cover.  They made the adjustment, we didn't.

Oh, and throw in the shitty officiating allowing them to get that FF and TD and then subsequently hold and interfere in the secondary the rest of the night and we were fighting an uphill battle.  All i'm saying is that we did not adjust to counter what they were doing....  and sometimes, strategy can be more valuable than physical superiority.

That being said, my main positions of focus going into the offseason are WR, RT, S, and DE.

I don't know why you all are shocked. This team has always sucked when Cam got a lot of pressure. See: 2014. He was fuging awful tonight and he deserves to be called out for it, especially since the defense nearly goddamn won the game for us despite the offense.

What qb ever had a good game and won when he he's running for his life the entire game?  Was cam supposed to shake off 4 defenders in the backfield for the entire game?

Cam wasnt good enough.  He did make some seriously clutch throws.  There were some seriously clutch catches too like Corey Brown and one by Funchess.

There were also some seriously clutch drops to go with those over throws.

Much of that happy feet had a lot to do with Denver killing Cam repeatedly play after play. After halftime there was ZERO adjustments.

Most people would agree that if they hit their head on a wall long enough and it hurt they would do something different,..

Not Shula,...

According to the Denver players we didn't do anything different than what they expected after two weeks of preparation.  Do you really think our knuckle head coaches are suddenly going to be capable of coming up with a plan in 30 minutes?  I mean, I agree that it would have been nice but if they decided to squander two weeks on God knows what then any halftime epiphany they might have had was too little too late.

Mike Shula is gigantic turd and completely and unfathomably inept.

EDIT:  Since people are wondering about the context here is David Newton's full tweet: "Panthers offensive coordinator Mike Shula: "We weren't good enough. Cam wasn't good enough." Said this when asked how Cam Newton played."

Cam did not play well.  No one will argue that point.  But it starts with coaching does it not?  Mike Shula sent no help to Remmers.  How is Cam suppose to play well when hes only given 2 downs to work with?  Cam started most, if not EVERY, drive of the game at 2nd and 8/9 because Shula sent Tolbert or Stewart running over the RIGHT G/T for a gain of 1, maybe 2.

MORE EDITS:  I'm just as devastated as all of you.  I am completely sober (not sure if this is good or bad).  I HATE hot takes.  But Shula's game plan tonight is really striking a cord with me. It's egregious in my opinion.  Where were the Ted Ginn or Philly Brown end arounds?  Hell, I can understand using those 1st down runs to set up play action.  BUT THERE WAS NO PLAY ACTION.  There was no attempt to adapt or misdirect.

I can't even read the rest. Cam wasn't good enough? No, your offensive line and receivers weren't good enough. He can't make plays when there's no protection or when balls are being dropped. Cam made Shula look like an offensive guru his season and he didn't play good enough last night? He didn't play well but that's a trickle down effect.

i actually didn't mind the game plan. running up the gut is the best way to negate those defensive ends. we ran plenty of play action too.

cam deserves criticism for his average play. he didn't play like an MVP. ted ginn deserves criticism for his average play. philly brown deserves criticism for dropping catchable balls. the refs deserve criticism for blowing calls. tolbert deserves criticism for putting the ball on the ground at critical times.

team loss all the way around.

He didn't have to have a good game. He could have had an average game and the Panthers still would have won.

It's obvious he didn't have a good game.  He missed two throws the entire game.  Yall act like he played in a clean pocket and was missing receivers all game. How was he supposed to drive us down the field with a hand-off to the running back every first down?  How was he supposed to complete a pass under pressure with no receivers open and 2-4 guys getting to him in under 3 seconds?  How was he supposed to throw the ball, block, call plays, run the ball, and catch the ball?

I've said this in another thread, but since there is a thread dedicated to Shula I might as well post it here also... Shula single-handedly lost us this game. Giving the Broncos two weeks to study our offense and doing EVERYTHING they expected (which the Broncos admitted to after the game) gave us no chance to win. Shula is one of the worst offensive coordinators in the league at making adjustments. The fact we were the #1 offense despite of this clown is a testament to how good Cam actually is! Shula is a bum that we will have to win despite of, not because of, until he is gone. I put this loss solely on his shoulders.
