Cam pouting at the podium

He said nothing rude or mean or classless.  He gave Denver credit.  He accepted responsibility for our part.  He got up and walked away so he didn't have to hear one more "can you put into words what you're feeling" question.

So...what's the problem here?

He didn't sit there and let the media beat up on him like "classy" players do. I've never really understood the point of press conferences for the losing teams other than to generate soundbites and drama... of course, that's the entire media M.O. these days for ANY topic, sports or otherwise.

Gettleman giving him garbage protection and shitty "options" at WR, I'm surprised he hasn't retired or asked for a trade. He'll always come short as long as we have a garbage GM.

I normally try to be the adult when I post.......BUT you're an idiot.

Yes I would prefer that Cam was a robot.  But he's not.

Delhomme was pretty emotional after his SB loss too - it didn't make ESPN the next day though.  I wonder if Cam's will?  Time will tell.

I think we all, well some who are honest with themselves, know the answer to that question.

This is the "problem" that really transcendent players like Cam face.  If he had gone out, stuck around for the flogging the media was going to give him, they would have found something else to write about.  Cam is the story, win or lose.

Heck, if we'd have won, and the media would have gotten all over him for being too emotional.  Fug'em!  The media wants to print stories that get clicks, and Cam is the uber click bait.

As much as we can all appreciate the greatness of the Pats, Brady and Belicheck, they have really created the wrong kind of culture for the current NFL.  They are the NFL of the past, stoic, unhappy, just "doing their job" kind of guys.  Emotions are bad, just go out and "play" the game.

The new NFL isn't about being a bunch of cardboard cut outs saying the exact things the media wants to hear that are boring.  Cam, the Panthers, and the rest of the NFL is moving forward with being a live, living, breathing people with feelings, emotions, who don't always have the best days. (holy run on sentence Batman!)

So for all the media and plays who want to criticize Cam for saying what he said and leaving, fug'em.  "Hey, you just had your heart and soul, as long as your body, ripped to pieces in front of millions of people, can you talk about how you feel, what went wrong 30 minutes after the game so we can write stories and make videos talking about how terrible you are?  Thanks!"

I've been rough on Cam but our local media should be ashamed of themselves. They pretty much came at him like vultures and couldn't wait to trash him in snarky tweets.

yeah, they're the absolute worst. that's why i get my info here and at sbnation.

I defend Cam all the time but i can't defend this kind of poo..be a kid on the field but be a man off it..man up and answer their questions..didn't like the way he handled the presser..if you want to be a star and have the light on you 24/7 you have to embrace that through anything..you are the MVP of the league and the face of the Panthers..act like it!

STFU... If you had to sit there and listen to this, your ass would have left to.  Know what the fug you're talking about before crucifying others...

Wow, I can't believe how many of "our" fans are giving Cam poo about this.  He wasn't rude or disrespectful and answered all the questions (which were so run of the mill, why did the media bother asking them?) in the best way he could facing the biggest disappointment of his young life.  Then to top it off he has to sit there and listen to Denver's defensive players yelling and screaming about what their game plan was and how well it worked?  Please....I don't blame him at all for cutting the presser short.

This is really a non-story, but because it is Cam it is and will be.

I don't hate you, so quit crying when I criticize your holier than thou attitude.  If you think you would have hung in there while Harris was nearly yelling over everyone else, about how they dominated you, great... I highly doubt it though.

I'm not saying Harris said anything out of the way, but there shouldn't have been a situation where Cam had to sit there and listen to it.  That's the one, and only, reason he walked away, and it's ridiculous to blame him.

I managed to get to page 8 before I gave up reading this shitty thread.

Wtf is wrong with some of you?  No poo he is pouting,  we just lost the SB.  Some of yall bitches are too worried about pressers.      We have a qb that is absolutely disgusted at losing.    So disgusted that prior to the SB he led us to a 17-1 record.         Some yall acting shocked that our qb that hates losing would pout after losing the damn SB.

Also,  lol @ the few of you that believe MVP should be ultra diplomatic.  ....and always do and say the right thing, from pressers to keeping their pinky finger extended while they are drinking their tea.      No.   MVP means you are the baddest motherfuger on the field through a regular season.                  If being diplomatic is one of the major requirements,  then maybe give MVP to Matt Ryan every year?   He'll sit there and be passive and not care about anything.

This is how much Cam hates losing. "I won a MVP last night". It dont matter. Cam is about team and winning. All other things awards dont mean crap. They can shove that MVP award up their azz. Cam wants to be great. Anything less than that he isnt accomplishing his goals. I dont blame him at all. If I were him I wouldnt have even came out to answer questions. As much as they questioned him and he even acknowledged he didnt like media sessions. All they ever do is twist around your words anyways.

    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
    • I didn't say I would have done it. I was just saying that I can see why some in the FO considered it. Everything was done to give Bryce weapons. Solidify the interior line thru FA. Get XL at WR in round 1 and then get the most talented RB in round 2. Take a TE in round 4, etc They were probably "assuming" he'd make a complete recovery during the 2024 season. I'm a skeptical person. I wouldn't have assumed he'd be ok in 2024. I personally would have taken another position in the 2nd for that very reason. But, if I were "influenced" to take him I would've argued to keep him off the field, especially seeing how things were going for us record wise. Conventional Wisdom says most backs don't get back to normal until two years after the ACL surgery. He was injured in Fall 2023. Having him suit up in 2025 would have been almost 2 years since the original injury. You have him for 3 year on low contract. If he balls out, you resign him for a couple of more years b/c he'd only have 3 years of tread on the tires. If he's ok but not great you let him walk.
