I really think we look safety in one of the first 2 rounds.  I'm big on Cravens, but this guy Darian Thompson has grabbed my eye today too. Don't watch enough BSU football to care, but watching some DraftBreakdown.com vids and some research make him pretty intriguing.

Here's his profile - http://nfldraftgeek.com/darianthompson-2016nfldraft.html

I've seen him slotted to the Panthers in a few mocks today as well, so there's some traction there.

Love his size, versatility, and true ballhawking nature.  He's credited with having a high football IQ and is solid in run support as well. I'd prefer a compliment to Coleman that is more of a SS, but he is an UFA in 2017, so he will be looking for a payday.  When you factor in JNo, Short, Star and eventually KB13, I wonder if getting a hybrid S now, will help us in '16, as well as beyond.

DG usually drafts with more than just the following year on his mind, so picking a safety early would solve a lot of problems financially too. Coleman is one of my faves, but I think we'd have to choose between he (28 years old) and Norman (29 years old) at the conclusion of next year.

Could definitely see us going DE in the 1st with someone like Bullard.  Depending on how FA shakes out, this may be a heavy Defense draft for us.

I really don't like Bullard due to his fit in our system.  He played more of a rush tackle at Florida and most have a perfect 3-4 end mold. Not a huge terror on the edge.

My view on the safety is different. I don't believe it's a draft need OR want, I'll list below.

Tre boston can play either spot, maybe not at a allpro level. I've heard nuggets about the teams love for Dean Marlowe, he had a taste during his red shirt year. Plus the two guys on PS; ball and Edwards pick.

Now I understand selling two PSers, Boston, and Marlowe maybe tough for some..... Which brings me to the main point- free agency. Just now there's will Moore, Mike Griffin(both pro bowlers) and Eric weddle. He's got tries to wilks & Rivera, plus he's a pro bowler too. Plus add Harper to mix as well. The market is flooded with similar type of safetys. The price should be very reasonable after a couple first sign.

If I'm Dave, I'd also see what type of extension could be reached with Coleman(same for oher) ala buy out the final cheap year for signing bonus 3-4 team friendly deal. Forget drafting saftey, QB, and LB (until 6th round) and focus on DE, CB, OT, and C/OG.

No joke. Bullard has no bend, not a 4-3 end. Guys that will work for us will be Lawson, Dodd, Ogbah or Nassib and maybe Kaufusi in round 2 if we go another direction in 1.

I see many mocks with Ogbah being there from 27 - 30.  Would love to get him.  If not him, maybe Eli Apple.  There will be a OT or 2 in our range, but I don't see Gmans historical philosophy lending itself to a big man on the OLine

Gents, it will be Scooby Wright! There isn't a player in this draft that screams DG more than Wright. Elite instincts(Luke) that knows the play before it happens. Can Shoot the gaps with the best of them. Multiple award winner as a soph., but injury killed his 2015 year. First Rd talent that falls because of his injury and he will not blow anyone away at combine but will quietly put up solid numbers!

After Davis retires,

Shaq-Luke-Scooby

This is assuming Corey Coleman, Hargreaves, and Butler are off the board

I thought Wright projected more as an inside LB?

Was figuring TD replacement to be more of a D Lee from OSU

Who knows though, can't wait for the combine, and, its less than 2 weeks away.  Being in the Super Bowl sure did cut down the wait time for anything meaningful Panther related.  Usually, we have been digging through draft stuff by Thanksgiving
