Viewing The Game If Power Goes Out

I live here in eastern NC and the wind is predicted to blow really strong this afternoon due to a low pressure off the coast.  I so hope the power does not get knocked out, but I am taking steps to try and watch the game if by chance it does.  We had a lot of rain earlier this week so the concern is the wind with wet soil could cause trees to fall over power lines.

I can listen on the radio, but that would suck.  With Verizon you can stream over a mobile phone, but we do not have Verizon.  I can tether with my cell service and what I was thinking is I can use our phones to tether to our laptops as the game is being streamed on CBS.  We could then watch on our laptops (I have 4 at my disposal).

That is the best I can come up with.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try using your phone as a mobile hotspot if you have a good wireless connection. Hook your laptop up via the mobile hotspot and find a stream online, which shouldn't be hard. I've done it before when I didn't have wifi available. Just test it out beforehand to see how good your connection is. And make sure both of your devices, laptop and phone, are fully charged.

Laptops is probably your best option, but if the power goes out, I'm assuming there goes the internet as well.

I'd recommend getting a digital tv/tuner for your laptop. You should be able to pick one up from Best Buy or the like. You can get over the air broadcasts. No guarantee you'll pick up CBS though. Just depends on where the broadcast station is relative to your house.

I get CBS pretty well.  I have an antenna in the attic I built to get OTA channels when it rains too hard for DTV.  I will check on one of these devices.

That is my concern - How long will the battery hold up.  I have 2 phones I can use.  So if one dies I can use the second.

Didn't see the phone thing. That's an option, but if you do have a CBS station close, the over the air broadcast will be much higher quality.

Im in eastern NC too and our NWS has warned of downed trees because of the wind and already saturated ground.

My back up plan is to head to some restaurant and watch it there.

No stopping this show today!!

I could do that if necessary.  I just have this fear of the game going into the 2nd quarter and suddenly power is knocked out and I then have to load up and go somewhere else.  I would then miss a lot of it.

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
