Lewd dancing ... when can I expect national outrage?

You know Cam is special if the South is leading the way on race issues.

i don't even know how many have truly changed their minds. i like to think a lot have (and it may well be the case) but in general after five years people have kind of realized that their biases hold zero weight so they basically just shut the fug up if they don't change their mind entirely.

nationally, the idiots who aren't going to change their mind have not yet learned to shut the fug up, so they're floating to the surface like turds in the punch bowl all across the nation to air their worthless opinions because they've had about enough of that there cam newton fella dibby dabbin' across all the super bowl shows like a damn scoundrel.

i hope cam has the greatest super bowl performance of all time just to watch their eyes bleed.

Yeah the full video is benign. She DEFINITELY wanted him to do it...and more. But...

...in the Army it's still sexual harassment if someone else was uncomfortable.

Sigh.

Vaguely remembering something to the effect of "you signed a contract to be here. You wrote on paper that you wanted this....take from that what you will. Too freakin' easy."

You have the right to be offended. Anything you say will be offensive.

Does that sound familiar?

"why are you looking at that female? Is she in danger? Is she in need? Is she a threat? No? Face out, take a knee, drink water you thirsty animal".

Yes, I've overheard this exact exchange. Laughed uncontrollably.

I'm a SGM. I've heard it all. Some warranted some not. In the end, it's an issue we have to grow beyond.

Every time I think of reenlisting, my thought process is as follows:

- I want to be a barrel chested freedom fighter again
- I miss the M240B
- I miss the guys
-....but PowerPoint...
- Yeah, I'll stay where I'm at.

dumb bastard, pisses me off just watching that.  he is like a tall Manziel

With talent, unfortunately.

Gronk pisses me off. Cam would never do this. Hell, Cam never even "pelvic thrusted" in that Tennessee game. This poo that Gronk did on camera is actual lewd behavior. If I had a duaghter, I'd want her as far away from him as possible. Would much rather she be with Cam.

fug media outrage. The entire country should be outraged. Is this how we are supposed to treat women in public? Where are all the feminists?

you should've been here three years ago. this is just a natural progression; in the carolinas we've largely overcome (or subdued) racial biases against cam, but the nation hasn't been exposed to the extent we have, so we're seeing a resurgence of the some dumbassery we dealt with here a few years back.

it's not just a coincidence that it's popping up on super bowl week.

I've been here since before Cam was drafted. I'm just sick of always hearing "what if Cam did that?" and people making everything about race. In this example, the Vine video was shown to suggest Gronk was nearly sexually assaulting the woman and everybody is outraged that he could get away with it when Cam got a letter from some mom for dancing. Then the full video came out showing that the lady literally begged gronk to do it and the reaction is "Cam still would be criticized". What many don't realize is that we see every piece of criticism on Cam but don't see everything on other players because we don't follow them as closely. Gronk DID get criticized for it in multiple articles.

I've read so many comments comparing Brady and Cam but I know waaaay more people that hate Brady than Cam.

When we make EVERYTHING about race, it dilutes the conversations and issues that really are about race. I think a lot of people that need to look inward and understand their own biases are resisting because they're bombarded with it.

That's how you choose to view it.  Judging by Cam's blunt comments to reporters regarding uncomfortable topics, I think he is ok with using his fame to make a statement.  I don't see him being used as a straw-man.  What I do see, is people realizing just how unjustified and yes racist most of the criticism aimed at Cam is.  Cam's legacy is guaranteed to be multi-faceted.  One of those facets involves the overlap of social justice and sports.  It's always been like that for athletes who stand for something.  Jim Brown.  Muhammad Ali.  Their legacies encompass athletic excellence and social awareness combined with fearlessness.

Don't forget Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul Jabbar (as well as others) who were from that era.

But well said.

It's actually not that strange.  Every non-white culture that has been impacted by colonialism has the same preference.  For blacks, it's an ignorant hold-over from slave days.  I've literally spat in the faces of other black men for making disparaging comments about dark skinned people; it's beyond ignorant.  Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, and essentially every other group/culture in Latin America have the same preference.  I remember I got into a couple of fights with Puerto Ricans when I was in the Marine Corps because of racist poo they said; keep in mind that these dudes looked like light-skinned blacks, but swore up and down that they were Puerto Rican and not black (as if Puerto Rican is a separate racial group and not an amalgamation of black, white, and Native American).

Well, this is true, and just like America.

Puerto Rico's just a country not  a racial group (as most Latin America).

They're black Puerto Rican's, white, mixed, and a few native (though you get that more so in Mexico, and South American countries).

However, depending on the individuals and the country, some are open about their blackness, and others are not. Certain countries discourage because of invasion and colonialism-as you mentioned, and in others they're more open and self aware. But that's another story. LOL

For the record. Arturo (also known as Arthur) Schomberg, who the Schomberg Center Of Black Research in Harlem was named after, is Puerto Rican (and of course black). But he knew the deal, and acknowledged that. Some do not.

However, let's keep this on football, unless we turn this into a world history and geology survey.
