I've had only one bad experience with Athletes as a child but most have been great experiences with Athletes.

My bad experience was when I was in high school and we went to a UNC girls basketball game. Rick Fox, King Rice and Scott Williams were at the game. My team went up to them and asked for an autograph and they said no. They were all just sitting there and dismissed us. I was a huge UNC fan then. Later in college we were playing NC Central and I see Grant Hill and Thomas Hill at the game. After the game I went up to Grant and asked for an autograph.and he obliged. Became a Duke fan then. I understand why Cam wouldn't have signed because of the situation of it being superbowl week and right after media day. I would have been happy like the tweet in just getting a picture of him and not together. However like my UNC experience when players are really being d*cks and full of themselves then I would make a thread about them and bash them..LOL..You have to look at the entire situation and not just that moment.

I've met both Rick Fox and Scott Williams and they are both really good dudes.  King Rice used to be kind of an ass back in the day though.

Ryan Newman used the be basically my neighbor... I moved about 4 miles down the road. I see him all the time on his tractor, or in his SWEET 63 Impala Wagon. Anywho... most of us in this town just wave and move on. We know were he lives, gets food etc... But honestly no one bothers him..... Locals Anyway. He is nice in public though... very friendly... im sure its because he gets treated like a normal person... and not bombarded all the time.

It's hard for me to empathize because I've never been a big autograph or get enamored with celebrities type of guy, even though I am a huge fan of the Panthers. Aside from the fact it's probably the most stressful and daunting week of his life, you have to view it from the aggregate. He is one of the most famous football players in the NFL, but he is also human. If he took a picture with everyone and signed an autograph for everyone who wanted one when in public he would be bombarded. Sometimes these guys have to say no, that's the way it is. That doesn't make him a bad guy. Try going out in public the most stresful work week in your life and everyone wanting your John Hancock and having to oblige each and every person, doubt you or anyone would enjoy it.

Well said.

It sucks for the OP and his family. Sorry for them.

However, I remember when the gentleman asked Cam to kiss his wife on Monday. One of the things Cam said in disapproval was: 'If I do it for you and your wife, then I have to do it for everyone else here'.

So, he's well aware of that, especially if he just wanted to go back in his room, and he was already exhausted.

Exactly. The fact that he was there with a hood on and ordering takeout told OP everything. He wants to get food and leave. Sometimes a no is necessary for his own sanity.

Lol people get their egos hurt because a man doesn't want to interact with everyone.  They take it personal. This happens everyday in life.  People get offended because others didn't acknowledge them.  It's ego.  Whenever I see famous people.  I never think to mess with them because I know they probably are tired with it.  Unless I ever bump into Dwyane Johnson the coolest dude ever.

Yeah. Sometimes you gotta  access/size up the situation (kids or no kids). Or at least not be disappointed after, if/when it doesn't go your way, after trying.

Just ignore celebrity, but make sure they know you saw them, that way they know you're cool.

Look OP, I won't rag on you like others here because I get you wanted your daughters to have a cool experience.

But the simple reality is if Cam hadnt told your daughters no, he would still be there at that restaurant taking photographs as every drunken clown in that place would've trotted out onto the streets of San Jose and screamed with a Fonz like twang "AYYYY, Breh, Cam Newton is in here taking pictures"

The guy was just trying to enjoy dinner. Cut him some slack. You wanna do something for the team? Take your family down to Super Bowl City and get on the NFLN set so we don't have to listen to Lindsay Rhodes make smarmy comments about our fan representation on the complete other side of the country.

Lol you people are acting like Cam would have had to go out of his way to at least act like he noticed the little girls. I understand that it's a "private" moment for him waiting for his food, but just because the Cameras aren't rolling doesn't mean he should be an ass to two little girls, just my opinion.
