Cam Newton disappointed me

Keep Pounding

Well I am sorry that your daughters were upset, but not to be rude, perhaps that is a teaching moment for them that you missed out on. Instead of acting as if Newton was obligated so to speak to have picture time with your family, perhaps try to teach them that even individuals such as Cam do appreciate some privacy, particularly out at a restaurant during Super Bowl week where they are obviously trying to avoid drawing too much attention to themselves.

Also, I'm just shocked that some guy with "tarheels" in his username has a shitty opinion. Take a hike mouth breather.

On the other hand, if you remember Bene and Josh Norman being on Jeremy's podcast, someone asked if Bene used to eat La Vic when he went to San Jose State. He said of course, and this is the place I was talking about. And I was the one that asked the question. So I'm basically famous.

nothing you said applies to me or makes any sense. Having a view you dont like or cant understand, isnt trolling.

the OP should learn these are just on field actors in a way and the children should stop admiring overpaid jocks.

Why are you still here.  Shouldn't you be getting back to the Bronco's board to talk about Manning putting up 350 yards and 8 TD's on our pathetic defense.

Sucks your daughters were disappointed.

But I think Cam has reached his limit judging from today's pressers. Hopefully from Thursday on Cam will have no distractions and his focus will be on one thing and one thing only.

you bring up a good point that this week is even heavier than usual, and the stupid poo meter must be pegged after media day. hard not to feel bad for the kids, a smile would have made their night. but it's certainly understandable given what he's been through this week.

Maybe so, but you also need to teach your kids why that situation ended like it did. Cam is still human and can't interact with everyone 24/7.

This.  A bit of expectation management is in order I think.  Celebrities like him often have handlers around them, someone to be an a-hole on their behalf because, well, they simply can't be "on" 24 hours a day and it's unreasonable to expect otherwise.

It also doesn't mean there's anything phony about the giving balls to kids, etc, despite what that troll says.  Think about whatever it is you do for a living, do you ever get tired of people expecting you spend part of your off-time doing it for them on the side?  I work in the IT field and I sometimes wouldn't mind having a handler be an a-hole on my behalf for all the neighbors, friends, relatives, etc, who are always wanting me to bring my work home for them.  It must be a million times worse for somebody high profile like him.

These poor children who are going to the super bowl. How will they ever recover. You should get them little Broncos cheerleader outfits so they can further think the world revolves around them.

Cmon man I don't think OP thinks the world revolves around his daughters.

He was hoping Cam would take a pic with his kids, he didn't, and naturally they (and by extension, he too) are dissapointed.

I don't think he's making a big deal of it just by sharing an experience on a message board. He certainly isn't saying fug cam or fug the panthers based on one experience.

Aside from the attacks on here for whatever reason. It's simple really with any famous person. They arnt a friend you ran into, a family member, or a person you know period. He maybe famous but he's nobody on the outside world to you or anyone. If his handler said he wasn't doing stuff then you should assume that means anything including just saying hi. I understand wanting a "oh hey sorry I can't but thanks" except if he did that boom your daughters talking to him she doesn't know the difference. Then bam some other people notice and all of a sudden a crowd forms. They want autographs, pictures, hugs. What is he gonna do say no? Make an exception for just panther fans? No he just ignores it. Your famous you gotta have tunnel vision, I bet he didn't even pay attention to what or who you guys were because its easier to ignore than apologize. The minute you engage its over you can't stop.

So, a man steps out to pick up some food with teammates/colleagues to bring back to the hotel while they are on a business trip in San Jose working and focused on accomplishing a task.

That is called focus and work ethic.

Great teaching moment for a child on how to be successful at achieving ones' goals. Sorry you had trouble trying to figure out how to explain this to your children being that you were on a vacation and in your families mindset they were a tourist spectacle on this fantastic vacation you were on. You and your daughters should appreciate the fact you got to see Cam Newton while preparing for a Super Bowl.

If someone were to step up to meet me with my colleagues in the middle of a business deal, I would not be able to make time for them either. There is a right place and time to socialize, and respecting other people's time and personal space is a virtue in the world of immediate gratification and social media.

The players are suppose to shut out any distractions between now and the end of the Super Bowl. They get paid a lot of money to do their job, and their day off was earlier in the week. They would be reprimanded if they were caught in public taking pictures or signing autographs.

I commend Cam and company for being focused and respecting their employer's wishes.

Hope you find the teaching moments in this event for your daughters now. Be glad you even saw the man in the midst of preparing for a Super Bowl.
