What will it take...for people to shut up?

Seriously, I don't get all this junk about how fans shouldn't boo their QB (who is making 40 million with 20 guaranteed) after he manages to turn the ball over 5 times. It's the man's JOB to do better than this. What if all the fans were passive when something like this happens? I'd hate to see someone perform that badly and not feel awful about that, making sure it wouldn't happen again. 3 times within a year Jake has performed completely terrible (Oakland game). Booing means your fans care, that they want to win. It's almost the community equivalent of a coach chewing out a player after a shitty play; they expect better. You see how Philly fans love to boo, but they're one of, if not the most passionate fans in the NFL. Booing is more caring than not supporting, sure you can twist it to make it "not supporting" but if fans were to support every move by any franchise, then well, that'd be awful. This isn't Big Brother here!

Best post of the thread brother :cheers2:

The photo is of our QB about to take a Personal Foul - face mask, followed by someone thinking it's funny and asking for folks here to put the picture in their sig line. I don't care if you think Jake should be immediately released, speaking as a fan of this team it's not funny. Think about it. It's like pulling for failure so you can be correct for saying you think the management and QB suck. Pathetic.

Oh, I get it, Booing our team means we care and we want to win, and it means we disapprove of interceptions.

Wow, I would have never thought that the team wouldn't know that the fans don't like to be on the wrong side of turnovers. Also, it never crossed my mind that fans wouldn't want to win, and to show that we want to win, we should boo bad plays.

Thanks for the insight! I had no idea, wow I'm so dumb.

A loss for 5 on the run. We had better boo, or they might keep trying to lose yards, they don't know that we want to win and that we care about the team, so they'll probably keep running that play.

BOOO! WE WANT TO WIN! BOOOOOOOO!

I think thats a bunch of crap. Yes they make a poo ton of money that we all are jealous of. But its not like every other job. When you go to work do you have 70,000+ people screaming around your desk and thousands more watching you on TV? Are there articles and shows calling for you to be fired? There is a extremely influential emotional aspect to sports and you can see it in Jake during the video of Steve Smith and him on the sideline after the 4th interception. Fan is short for Fanatic and we should be fanatical about our team. You have every right to boo, but yes it makes you less of a fan. And we have the right to say you should shut up. Booing to support your team makes no sense. Booing has no place during a tough loss when our players feel like poo anyway. Thats when they need all the support they can get, especially our qb.

Agreed. Booing to show support for a team is ass-backwards in my opinion.

"IF" he comes out and have a good game against atl, it will be because of the booing he got.

its like disciplining a child when he/she does something wrong, you either cause physical discomfort (smacking on the hand) or in a stern voice causing emotional discomfort (No! dont do that!) and if you have a smart (disciplined) child they wont do it again because of the discomforts they dealt with before.

im not saying we disciplining jake, but imagine if we woulda cheered him for every int., i really dont understand yall at times.

Seriously how old are?

Us booing him will be like disciplining a child? The reason children learn like this, is because they have not learnt what is right and wrong. So in your mind Delhomme doesn't realise he played bad?! That's insane. You could see him on the sidelines, he was devastated, even teammates trying to pick him up could offer no words of comfort. He had literally gone inside a shell, both this game and the Arizona game. When someone is that far gone confidence wise you are not helping them learn, you are compounding their turmoil.

When did I say we should cheer his interceptions?! I said I can understand the intial shout of anger/disbelief/frustration. Then though we need to go straight back to supporting the team, getting ontop of their D by being noisy and then when we have a moment, make sure Delhomme realises we still support him and the team.

You really just read what you wanted to read didn't you?

I'd never booed ( speaking of Soccer... no Pro Football team to cheer for around here :nonod: ) my team for bad plays.

As long as he is our QB, I'll support him, but I think the fans have every rights to say that he's done and he's playing awfully. It's better to bitch a moan here on the Huddle than going to the stadium and boo, I think.

you can't tell, but i'm booing you guys right now,

How dare you not show us any support! :ma:

You guys do realise a lot of the players play for the fans right? They play the game because they love it and because it's their job, but what keeps them motivated throughout the season is their team mates and their fans.

You can guarentee not one of our players out there actually stopped trying throughout the entire game, so why as fans would we stop as well?

If the players start getting booed, despite them playing their hearts out, then they will stop caring about the team. They will start playing purely for themselves and their team mates. Self preservation will kick in and we will quickly have a situation where the players themselves couldn't care less about the fans. Then we have a situation where players just do not want to come here because the fans are a bunch of morons. Players talk to each other and the attitudes of us as fans will be a huge factor to potnetial free agents coming in.

You can make all the funny little remarks as you want, but it just shows you are not taking in the importance of getting behind your team. As fans, we can actually bring a team back from the brink by continued support.

Ask yourself this, would you prefer to continue booing Delhomme to ensure he gets dropped and that Fox gets fired? Or continue to support them and we rally to make the playoffs?

Yup---if you boo you're not a fan! Hello---these guys are MILLIONAIRE atheletes not Pop Warner special needs kids from Sandusky. Why the hell do some people think if you don't agree with every single decision management makes then (1) you're ignorant (2) you're not a real fan. It's ok not to support every single thing your team does. Now say it with me "...it's ok..."

Once again you are completely missing the point. This has NOTHING to do with the FO. I do NOT think Delhomme should be starting, but I am aware that he will be. I also do NOT believe Fox is the coach he is made out to be, but I am aware that sacking him now will confine us to the worst case scenario this year.

Please, please, please realise that almost everyone in this thread is as mad at Jake and Fox as everyone else. The point we are trying to make is to try and support the team despite this, so that we do not compound our problems.

What wage they make is meaningless. As long as they are putting the effort out there, what more can you ask.

Now if the team had given up and weren't trying, then that is a different matter.

Fans at Heinz field boo Ben Roethlisberger after 2 INTs when his defense keeps the game close. We didn't start to boo until Jake's THIRD INT and the game was becoming a blowout.

He deserved every bit of it...

These arguments are just completely baseless. You think he deserved to be booed. He deserved to be punished by the fans for what he did. Are you kidding me? He's not 2 years old, he understands the interceptions hurt the team, their morale, and their chance at winning the game.

This is as stupid as the argument that fans boo because they want to win and because they care, and want to show they disapprove of interceptions. Give me a break.
