What will it take...for people to shut up?

"IF" he comes out and have a good game against atl, it will be because of the booing he got.

its like disciplining a child when he/she does something wrong, you either cause physical discomfort (smacking on the hand) or in a stern voice causing emotional discomfort (No! dont do that!) and if you have a smart (disciplined) child they wont do it again because of the discomforts they dealt with before.

im not saying we disciplining jake, but imagine if we woulda cheered him for every int., i really dont understand yall at times.

What makes you think that playing well against Atlanta will be because of booing the week before??? Stating it as if it was fact will not make it so. Are you psychic???

Yes, you are saying booing is discipline, don't deny it. And why the hell would you even suggest cheering every int unless you're an Eagles fan? You're the one that isn't understandable. :ack2:

I'm with LoyalPF. There is no way I could ever boo the team I support or any player or coach on it. But I can boo the opposing team and the refs all day long. :D

I don't think in many cases people are bashing him as much as they are trying to figure out whats wrong. I started a thread earlier today to show that the oline was not to blame for the 4 INT's, the reason I started the thread and did the research was to really go back and analyze what happened on each of those plays. I got absolutely bashed for this because I guess people are tired of people blaming Jake but the thing is that I'm sure most fans don't blame him they are just worried that he is going to do it again and they are trying to figure out why.

We all know that no one on the team had a good game (except T. Davis and J. Peppers) but thats obvious given the blowout. What isn't obvious is why Jake is struggling so much, I think it is a comfort for people to say "well the oline played terrible and thats why he threw all those INT's." Thats not the case at all, the oline played bad and thats why he got sacked and McCown got injured. Jake's INT's are a completely different thing and you can't expect to win when a QB does that.

Its not bashing him, my only concern is simply trying to understand.

At this point, it comes with the territory. 12-4 last year after up and down seasons since we were 1-15. That has actually been tough to take because we haven't fielded a team that was expected by the fans to have a losing season since 2003. Jake has had a strange history here. He emerged out of obscurity to become the starter and finishes the 2002 regular season 4-1 to leave us at 7-9. The next year we make a run to the Super Bowl. The team had ups and downs for a couple of years after that. He gets injured and has a surgical procedure that could have ended his career resulting in a terrible year without him. He comes back and starts again resulting in the best regular season record in the history of the franchise only to self destruct in a home playoff game. For the 2009 home opener he has another terrible game. I've seen the frustration here over this and I can understand that. What is hard to understand is the panic, blame, and pessimism after one game. There are probably at least 20 other teams that have more ongoing problems and concerns that have been going on for years. Hey, maybe I'm wrong and we are now in for a 4-11 toilet bowl ride, but I seriously doubt it. I get the feeling that some folks here think we are at the "bag over the face" level. They have no idea what that is really like, and I'm thankful this franchise hasn't been there yet and isn't on the way there now. It's way too early to freak out.

Huddle Rule# 126- He who starts thread asking people to shut up, then in said thread says they are rational. Will catch nothing but Hell in each post within that thread.

WOW

Hah, I suppose.

It was more of a plea to quit the embarrassing negativity that could be detrimental to the team.

I'm quite open to the analysis that FirstDayFan posted and I read that post shortly after it was up and had no qualms with it. I'm more against all the crap about people being Jake 'slurpers' and starting 4-11 threads and posting about how we've made all these mistakes and we're doomed and we should fir Hurney and Fox and so on and so on. It's useless, and at some point, it could affect the confidence of the team, which could hurt our season.

How dare you not show us any support! :ma:

Here's an idea, lets start screaming 'you suck' when Jake walks on the field, or if the offensive line lets a guy through we'll boo at them too, and scream at Peppers if he under performs that he's a waste of money and space; let's also scream at Jonathan Stewart for being a weakling and boo him for his weak Achilles, and boo Gamble if he doesn't cover a guy well, that's sure to motivate them and give us a win in the next game! Go Panthers! Wait, I mean, BOOO PANTHERS, YOU SUCK, PANTHERS SUCK! (heh, I bet that'll motivate them to play hard, I bet in the offseason Peppers will definitely want to stay and so will all the other players we yell at, because we motivate them so well!)

Fans are supporters. Booing them is not supporting them, it's actually detrimental to the team. So therefore booing means, as a fan, you do not support the team.

Yup---if you boo you're not a fan! Hello---these guys are MILLIONAIRE atheletes not Pop Warner special needs kids from Sandusky. Why the hell do some people think if you don't agree with every single decision management makes then (1) you're ignorant (2) you're not a real fan. It's ok not to support every single thing your team does. Now say it with me "...it's ok..."

Seriously, I don't get all this junk about how fans shouldn't boo their QB (who is making 40 million with 20 guaranteed) after he manages to turn the ball over 5 times. It's the man's JOB to do better than this. What if all the fans were passive when something like this happens? I'd hate to see someone perform that badly and not feel awful about that, making sure it wouldn't happen again. 3 times within a year Jake has performed completely terrible (Oakland game). Booing means your fans care, that they want to win. It's almost the community equivalent of a coach chewing out a player after a shitty play; they expect better. You see how Philly fans love to boo, but they're one of, if not the most passionate fans in the NFL. Booing is more caring than not supporting, sure you can twist it to make it "not supporting" but if fans were to support every move by any franchise, then well, that'd be awful. This isn't Big Brother here!
