And not really a workout but it seems relevant enough. From Matt Miller's latest Scouting Notebook:

South Carolina wide receiver Pharoh Cooper ranks as our No. 10 player at the position in this year's class, and in talking to scouts across the league, he's drawing big interest from the New York Jets, New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers.

Never seen him play so I looked up his combine numbers and woof are they awful.

Single digit percentile on 5 of the 7 athleticism tests. Josh was somewhat similar at his combine, although a fair bit better, so it doesn't mean he has no chance to be good, but it's certainly not positive. I can't imagine he'd go much higher than the 7th though we did work him out so there must be something we like. My guess would be that we like his tape and after his abysmal testing we wanted to work him out to actually see if he is actually that slow and stiff in person. I guess he could go in the 5th to us as a David Mayo style pick if we really like what he showed in his workout.

So it's our local prospect day, maybe a few more of these will slip out.

North is an interesting one and a possible late round boom/bust player. Top 10 WR out of high school with ideal size and athleticism but he could never get it going in college. Some of that was due to injuries. He's only 20 so there is plenty of room for him to develop.

Hmmm... interesting about Miller.  I'd seen some enthusiasm about him here previously, and based purely on his draft grade / big board rankings he's landed at BPA in either the 4th or the 5th rounds in a lot of mock drafts I've done in the past 2 weeks.  It could be that Panthers' mocks show him as being potentially available so they want to see for themselves if there's talent worth developing.

Two other players with similar availability in rounds 3 - 5 include Keivarae Russell of Notre Dame & Cyrus Jones of Alabama.  Anyone have thoughts on either of them?  Russell seems to have very divergent rankings... sometimes he goes in round two on some boards, other times round 5 or later.  Is there some uncertainty about his position (CB vs S?)

You can't always go by combine or test numbers.  If you look at the numbers, Treadwell should be no better than a 4th or 5th round pick.  But when you watch him play he is the best player on the field against any team he plays.  If you really want to see if a player is good or not check out http://draftbreakdown.com/

There you get to see the good and bad parts of every players game.

Russell is kind of hard to target.  He was suspended for a year from ND for cheating on test and last year was either really good or got burnt like toast in games.  Bit of a feast or famine kind of guy.

Jones might be the best punt returner in this draft.  He is small.  Sometimes he gets lost in zone coverage as well.  Then there is the whole Alabama cornerback thing where they only really play 2 coverages and they have to learn alot of different thinks when they get in the NFL.  But he is really good in man and will tackle.

Just on tape, Miller could be a 1st or 2nd round guy, he looks that good.  But he is little, like NBA basketball skinny little.  He is 6'1" and maybe weights 180lbs.  But when he tackles a guy they go down, his guy is never open, and no one beats him deep.  Great ball skills and reads in zone as well as any corner in this draft.  But then you look at the level of competition and can he do the same in NFL?  That's hard to say.  He will need to eat some cheeseburgers before he sees the field much anyway that is for sure.

Washington State offensive lineman Joe Dahl is building some momentum for himself and there’s a belief he could land in the second day of the draft. Teams like his athleticism and ability to adjust, something I spoke about during Senior Bowl week, and fee a bit more strength would complete his game. Dahl’s visit and workout schedule is loaded and includes the New York Jets, New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Bucs, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts.

Added Joe Dahl, OG 6'3 299lbs
