Out of all the prospect in this draft, the one guy that makes me wipe the drool off of my mouth is Braxton Miller.

We have the WR to take the top off of a defense (Ginn).

We have 2 WR that can outsize and outfight the DBs (KB and Funch).

What I would like to have is a WR that is a play-maker and play-breaker.  That can catch a ball in the flat, break the defenders ankles and take it to the house.  I think Braxton Miller could be a WR like that.

If he's sitting there available at the bottom of the 2nd round, jump on that kid.

You mean like this.

Ran a great post route, made a great move, broke the defenders ankles and took it to the house.  The pass didn't even hit him in stride, he had to slow down to catch it.  Not saying he can do it every time, but both he and Ginn are a threat to do it.

Yeah, something like that, but in hyper-drive.

That was a great play by Brown, but his YAC numbers this year haven't been impressive (nor were they last year).

What I'm talking about is a YAC *expert*.  Now is Miller that guy?  You never know.  But I think he could be that guy.

I think Derrick Henry is a beast, but Bama ran very little (if any at all) of the read-option.

Not so sure he's a good fit in this style of offense.

Now it may be the case that he would just be THAT GOOD in any style of offense.  That he has the vision and the patience to let Cam put that ball in his belly and wait until Cam makes his decision.  But it also may be the case that his ability to adapt to that is limited.

Again, I'm a big fan of Henry, but I would prefer a guy like Elliot from Ohio State (if he was miraculously available) because his experience in the Urban Meyer offense gave him practice with the read-option.

One of the things I wonder about with a guy like Henry is this.  Is he really that good, or does he just look good because he plays on a team that almost always has superior talent all around in comparison to the teams he plays against?

Well, I think Henry is *very* good.

But you make a really good point, because the last four starting RBs drafted out of Bama (three 1st rounders and one 2nd rounder) were:

Mark Ingram

Trent Richardson

Eddie Lacy

T.J. Yeldon

Why would the Panthers draft Derrick Henry? He has been mocked in most mock draft to go 2nd round (strange for Heismann winner..) so he would probably be available. But we have 3 pretty good RBs 2 of which most likely going to lead us to a super bowl win.

If we drafted him how would he get playing time? Not unless the Panthers totally change the Stewart is the workhorse strategy from this season to a 2 or 3 way model , and then they'd be totally shafting CAP out of playing time .

If Stewart is anything like DeAngelo that means he'll be able to play into his early 30s and still be productive.

Drafting a big WR is a waste with Kelvin coming back and Funchess still there. I think it makes since to get a speed WR to groom to replace Ginn but I doubt the panthers will go that route in the draft.

One quote that always stick with me when talking about drafting player is "If you're team is not getting better then you're team is getting worse". There was talk about Todd Gurley being drafted to the Panthers last year around this time. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Gettleman drafted Derrick Henry who would be a complete monster in our backfield with Cam. I also think Tolbert is a free agent and when has Stewart played a complete injury free season yet.

Stewart is a likely cut target this offseason. He's still a very good player, but it will be tough to justify his cap hit of almost $10 million next year at his age.

Most likely he isn't! With the dead money attached to him, it would be like paying him NOT to play for us.

Again, I ask the question I asked above: how much experience does Derrick Henry have running with a read-option QB?  Because, as far as I know, it was never used at Bama while he was there.  Maybe when he was in high school?

Let me make it clear again, I think Henry is a phenomenal talent.  Is he a phenomenal talent that fits?

I think that we'll have a need at RB well before anyone is expecting it. CAP is not the future, and Stewart going down coincided with our only loss this season.

I fully expect another late round RB selection after spending all our early picks on the defense.

I don't know if we've even seen enough of CAP to make that call. That said, CAP (25) is only three years younger than Stewart (28) so it's hard to think of him as the future.

And I think that's really huge. Look at D-Will. He went to Pittsburgh and did much better in a system better suited for him. We have a system that NO ONE else has in the NFL. Why even remotely mess that up??? Getts is really smart when it comes to this. Look at all the "mediocre" talent he has brought in that has shown out. Cam said it best, "It's the SAME Ted Ginn..." The difference is he was the RIGHT piece of the puzzle, not just a puzzle piece. Cam helps too....haha! Coleman/Ginn/Cotch, these guys and more have been the RIGHT pieces.
